Vegeta had noticed though and released Ami slightly. "Kids..."
he murmured, and then shot a look to Trunks. Trunks wrinkled his
nose and left the room.

Ami sniffled quietly and wiped her eyes, trying to regain her
composure. "C'mere Lorelei..." she sighed shakily, picking up
her daughter. Junior gave Vegeta a scathing look and walked back
outside, punching and successfully creating a hole in the wall
of Trunks' room.

Vegeta scowled at the child as he walked out and sighed, walking
out of the room and heading to the kitchen for some food.
Heero started on his third beer, tempted to walk down the street
for more, and he picked up his cell phone. He started to
remember the day they got him that phone. He tried to tell Ami
so many times that he would never have a need for it. It was a
waste of her money, but she insisted so much, telling him that
it would turn out to be his life line and he would come to a
point where he desperately needed to get in touch with her. Now
he realized how much she was right. He wanted her home so much,
he hated himself. But he knew if she'd seen that news cast, then
she'd never come back to him. He'd no idea that she even thought
he might not be alive.

A few hours passed, Junior and Lori were fed and getting sleepy.
Ami was cleaning up after herself and Vegeta, and Trunks too of
course. "Vegeta," she murmured as she put the dishes in the
dishwasher. "I'm going to my brother's tonight."

Vegeta looked at her and nodded. "Alright..." he told her,
slightly pained by her leaving. "Can Lori stay one more night?"
he asked, brushing a hand through his daughter's hair before
picking her up into his arms.

"Of course..." she whispered, wishing she could just stay
forever. But Goku had sent her a message saying Bulma was
returning early. And having one fight, she didn't want to have
another. She kissed Lori's forehead softly, murmuring her
goodbyes then looked into Vegeta's eyes, saying nothing.

Vegeta looked away from Ami, taking Lori back to the spare
bedroom and laid her down on the bed. He turned on some cartoons
for her and kissed her forehead then walked out and went to sit
on the couch in the living room.

When Vegeta returned to the living room, Ami was gone. However,
Junior was still there looking as surly as ever. He glared at
Vegeta tearfully and shoved a crumpled piece of paper at him.

Vegeta grabbed the paper and stared back at the boy. "Go after
your mom boy..." he told him and walked away instead of sitting
on the couch.

"I can't, she lied to you, you stupid spiky haired idiot!" the
boy snapped. "Read the paper!" He then stormed off to lay down
with his sister as she watched cartoons and dozed.
