MotoFlyfishing

Not many fishing reports lately so I figured I'd post this
topic on a different way to go flyfishing. No boat, Kayak or
canoe!! but on a motorcycle.
I've made a few trips in the last couple of months on my bike to
Lake Kincade, Poverty Point and the Oil and Gas Park in
Jennings.
Not much luck so far but I'm not giving up. I just need to find
some good water and believe me clean water around Abbeville is
hard to find.

If you are interested check out this post on Adventure Rider
especially the one where the guy builds his own bamboo rod.

Oil Park Pond is usually as reliable as it gets, so if it's
tough fishing that's not good. It's been very tough on Kincaid
lately. I have no idea why, but the water is about 1.5 feet
below normal and very clear - even by Kincaid standards - so the
fish may be in deeper water.
If you've gone to Poverty Point, then you passed up Caney Lake
and that's a good spot to bank fish. There's a state park there
to camp.
Have you thought about Toledo Bend? You can camp and fish on
either side of the lake. As long as you're fishing the lake, you
don't need a Texas license (although I have one). If you go
there in the fall, find a campground that has docks. The
crappie fishing off the docks that time of year is as good as it
gets.

Catch
Even the guys fishing with bait at the Oil and Gas park
weren't catching anything. Poverty Point Reservoir was stirred
up due to a front so conditions were not good for anyone.
I'll check out Toledo Bend for sure and may go there in the
fall. Too hot for camping right now.
Thanks for the info

Cool
I toured Europe on a 1973-BMW R75 in the 70s.....Now I own
several Harley's and a Valkyrie I'm working on .... after years
on bikes ..my age and cold weather cramps my fingers so bad it
makes it a fair weather type sport.....bet you thought I would
say I gave up riding...NOPE Its so enjoyable on sunny warm days
! And I enjoy biker friends too much !
Me and a buddy had made plans to bike / Fly fish Arkansas but
before we could travel on our Fly fishing /wild hog style trip
he stroked out and died not ever finishing that trip......This
past fall I sprinkled some of his ashes into the little red
river at his last request. And said farewell to one of those
rare life long hunting and fishing buddy's.. Funny my next cast
I caught the largest rainbow trout of my week long trip ! I
thanked my buddy that night and toasted to his memory with a
Macallan single malt his favorite !
