       Dying estaz?

Hey fellow tiers, here's my problem. I need a "light purple"
estaz. They no longer make such a color, or it's more likely
that what was "purple" has now become "deep purple". Sort of
like the LSU purple. Remember when the LSU color was a light
purple and NOT a dark purple? Perhaps I'm showing my age, but I
       do!
Back to the estaz... so I'm thinking there's two possible
       solutions:
       1) Buy opal estaz and die it to the correct color
       or
       2) Slightly bleach the dark purple to the correct color
       Which of these would work?

What about using Pearl estaz and a marker to dye it? A feller I
know ties Murdich Minnows like the ones in this video with all
pearl estaz and then uses various colors of markers to get the
coloring he wants. Start around 8:40 in the video.

So I guess that would be Option 1?

I stopped at Bass Pro today in Jackson and found some medium ice
chenille in the EXACT color needed. This is the Wapsi product
and it's a light purple. Compare that to the estaz or
Hareline's medium ice chenille which are a much darker purple.
The estaz has slightly longer fibers, but this will work well
enough. I can also use it on my Coma Cocaho pattern, which I've
long since switched from estaz to ice chenille. So for now, the
bleaching / marking / dying alternative is on hold.

Cole, I think you can put the "Save the Dying Estaz" campaign on
       a more permanent hold. :D
According to a response on one of my Facebook posts, apparently
Estaz is yet another of those colors - like Chartreuse - where
you really have to examine in person. Most of the product
photos are done under a lamp and don't showcase the exact color.
In addition, you might have four packs of purple and every pack
might be a slightly different shade.

I'd say get some pearl estaz and dye it very quickly with a
short dunk in a heated mug of purple Kool Aide
