       MSAF Rules and Regulations
   DIR By: Spearhead
       Date: February 20, 2012, 6:08 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Rules:
       FPS Limits:
-All AEGs (Including pistols and shotguns) must chrono under 450
FPS with a .2 gram BB
-All Sniper Rifles must chrono under 550 FPS with a .2 gram BB.
If the rifle exceeds 450 FPS, they must carry a sidearm with
them for safety reasons. Bolt action only
-Zero Range Weapons are light powered AEGs or springers that
chrono under 280 FPS. They must be verified by leadership to be
used. They also must be capable of semi automatic fire, which
must be used under the given minimum engagement distance
       (Explained below)
       Safety Rules:
-Safety Kills: A player with an AEG must call out "SAFETY KILL"
on someone who is within 20 feet from yourself. You may call
safety kill if you feel the need to otherwise, such as you have
a 430 FPS rifle and you only have a face only shot on someone 50
feet away, go ahead and call it, you are just trying to be a
good sportsman after all. These are not an objective, they are
just a safety measure in case you walk up on someone and didn't
realize they were there. SWS (sniper weapon systems) have a
minimum engagement of 100 feet for safety reasons. This is why
we ask people to snipers to carry sidearms, so you could engage
in closer distances. When safety killed, you can accept and call
hit, or you can "challenge." Challenging consists of the person
safety killing you taking ONE shot. Not a burst or mag, A SHOT.
If it hits you, you are hit, if it doesn't, you parley and walk
       in opposite directions.
-Cease fire: This is an EXTREMELY important phrase on our field.
Calling "Cease fire" means there is an emergency on the field
(EX: Fight, injured player, fire started, etc. No running out of
ammo does not count for a cease fire.) When a cease fire is
called, it is to be echoed loudly and clearly no matter where
you are. You are to STAY WHERE YOU ARE If you are near the
emergency, however, you are aloud to help if possible. Please,
stay put and let mods and leadership find the problem. Also call
out on the radio or yell out to where the problem is; I have
seen cease fires be called and mods spent a good ten minutes
trying to figure out where the problem was, and if someone was
injured or if there was a fire, a lot of things could have
       happened in that time frame.
-Code 5-0: This is called when police are on the field. You are
to LEAVE ALL WEAPONS AND GEAR BEHIND. Mags out, chambers
cleared. If you have to leave a marker on where you left your
stuff. We don't want anyone shot by a fresh-out-of the academy
officer, do we? The cops do know we are there, however, so no
       need to worry.
Smoke Grenades: We are currently the only field in Maine who has
the privilege of using smoke grenades. To use a smoke grenade,
you must meet a few requirements. A- The grenade must be
internal fuse/pull pin type. No external fuses are aloud. B- You
must clear the grenade with Fishman, and only Fishman any time
you bring one on the field. Bring two, one will be tried to make
sure it is safe, the second you can keep to use. We've had a few
risky situations with smoke grenades, don't be an idiot please.
You must also have a water source on you at all times when using
smoke grenades. Other types of grenades- Whether it be frag or
sound- Cannot be exploded with pyro. With frag grenades, you are
only hit if a BB hits you, with sound grenades, you are
considered dead if one lands in a base with you in it. Otherwise
       they are just distraction devices.
Moderators- When in need of a moderator, call out on channel 3
on your radio. Moderators include: Fishman, Blackjack, Redrover,
Joker, Chica, Mako, Fire Cracker, Paladin, Deuce, Destrudo,
Zombie..There may be a few others, just can't remember off the
top of my head right now. You call moderators when rules are
being broken or there is an emergency, please don't call us to
       help you reload.
Waivers- Everyone is required to turn in a waiver. If it is your
first time out on the field and you couldn't get one, that's
understandable and we'll let it slide. Fishman usually carries a
bunch with him anyway, but just in case, you are aloud one "get
out of jail free token." So please, get your waivers signed
ASAP, your waiver is good for the year. Here are the current
ones, which will be updated soon:

       -Safety Equipment:
Required: Z87.1 Rated Safety Glasses- Absolute MUST. You aren't
even going to be aloud in the CP (Staging area) without glasses.
Must wrap fully around the eye. If you want to wear mesh
goggles, you better have something under them. (Prescription
glasses will work, only under mesh protection.) We do recommend
full seal goggles, however. Keep in mind during games these must
be worn, even in the CP. BB's can still stray in there, even
       though it rarely happens.
-Red Kill rag: This can be a piece of red cloth or just
about anything that is bright and vibrant to show that you are
hit. Orange/red/pink are the preferred colors.
Recommended: Radio: Helps with communication with your team,
helps call mods. Compass: If you get lost (which is pretty hard
to at the field) then these are pretty helpful. Boots: You're
going to be going through water, mud, forest and jumping down
slopes and sliding over roots, face it, those pumped up kicks
are not gonna get you far. You can get a good pair of boots for
       as low as 70$.
       Field rules:
CP Trash-We have designated trash cans- One for cans/bottles,
the other for random other garbage. Please use them properly and
       keep our field clean.
Lost and Found- When gear is found we keep it in our CP tent. If
no one claims it for a few months, or we don't know who it
belongs to, it will be sold to help raise money for the field.
Firing range- We have a nice range set up, but we do require
that you wear safety glasses/goggles when on the range. BB's can
bounce back from quite a distance.
Knives/blades- You cannot carry knives with you on the field
that are over 5 inches. Anything under that is considered
survival gear and should be used as only that. Anything over is
not aloud. Anyone that uses a knife (That is not rubber) on
someone is going to get in some deep trouble.
Stovetop: We have a base in the far back corner of the field
known as "Stovetop." There, there is a few things you should
look out for- Barbed wire and rock walls. Do not cross the rock
walls and please, for the love of mercy look out for barbed
wire. We have removed a large amount of it, but there is still
       some out there.
       Game rules:
Medics- We have something called SSMR (Standard Spartan Medic
Rules) Which we use for our larger games. When we say this, it
       means:
-1 medic per 10 people (can round up if wanted.)
-Each player can be healed 3 times
-Medic can be healed by anyone
-Medics must hold onto the hit player for 30 seconds while
stationary You cannot walk and heal someone, nor can you count
ten seconds and walk with them twenty feet, it must be 30
seconds un interrupted. You can drag them out of the way, if
necessary (Dragging is done by holding onto the player and
       running them back to cover.)
-When it, you begin counting your "bleed out time." This is when
you count to 3 minutes, and if a medic doesn't reach you by the,
you have bled out and must respawn (will be designated before
       hand, otherwise ask a mod.)
Keep in mind medic rules can change depending on the game, so
       please listen during briefings.
-Hits: Every time a BB hits you, you are to yell "HIT" loudly.
Some people cannot hear others call hit over their weapon's
motor turning, so please be loud and clear. You then pull out
your kill rag, place it on your head and show a non threatening
pose. If you are in base and are hit, please stand up, exit the
base, and let others know you are hit. Gun hits will only count
if a BB hits a part of your gun that covers your body. If it
       doesn't, just yell "Gun hit!"
-Cover fire: When giving cover fire, there is a difference
between that and lacing someone for 5 seconds. Covering fire is
indirect fire to keep people's heads down. If you're shooting
someone for a long amount of time, and they're calling hit, but
yous till can't hear them because of your gun's noise, someone
will be mad. Please do bursts only when shooting AT someone, but
when shooting TOWARD someone, longer bursts are OK, just be
       careful.
-Knife kills: Knife kills can be performed by hand or with a
rubber knife. No, knives cannot be thrown, no you cannot do
super-awesome-mega-cool choke take downs either. Just a tap on
the shoulder and saying knife kill is all it takes. The person
killed does not call hit either, it is the only silent kill we
       use on the field.
That should just about cover everything.
