If when Peronism turns to the right it "eats" the center-right,
as happened in the 90s with Carlos Menem, when it turns to the
left it does the same with that space, as happened with Néstor
Kirchner and Cristina Fernández. And that has deepened since
2015, when the arrival of conservative businessman Mauricio
Macri to power caused many to support Peronism as a way of
"resisting the right." Thus, what remains of the Communist
Party, the Maoists, the various left-wing populisms and even
many of those who during the 2001 crisis were radically
anti-State and were inspired by the Zapatistas ended up orbiting
around Peronism. The only irreducible ones were the Trotskyists.
In parallel, the non-Peronist center-left became blurred with
agreements with the center-right of Together for Change (JxC) in
the provinces,
Although the FIT-U parties, especially the Socialist Workers'
Party (PTS) and the Workers' Party (PO), continue to criticize
each other with little mercy, they have managed to maintain the

and have become a refuge vote for
those who, from the left, do not want to vote for Peronism,
especially in the first electoral rounds. In the runoffs,
Trotskyism calls for blank voting, which angers the Peronists,
especially the Kirchnerists. Although with differences,
Trotskyists consider that Peronism and Macriism are "bourgeois"
variants of the same system, and argue that if Macri
overindebted the country, Alberto Fernández agreed with the
International Monetary Fund (IMF). His dream, always intact, is
to win the working class over Peronism.

In these years, they have managed to maintain their
parliamentary presence, with four national deputies. Their
influence is visible in several unions - where they appear as
combative fighters against the old business unionists eternal in
their positions - and they have achieved an important impact in
the student world and in the women's movements. In provinces
like Salta, Mendoza or Jujuy they have had moments of glory and
have sometimes exceeded 10% of the votes. Their weight is strong
in the "piquetero movement", as the groups of unemployed people
organized to demand "social plans" and financing of cooperative
"popular economy" projects have been known since the late 90s,
and they also led some self-management experiences.
