       A deep red gas was evolved whena white crystalline solid is
       treated with Conc. H2SO4 and K2Cr2O7 onheating. When this gas
       passed through aq. NaOH, a yellow solution was observed. Above
       compound is a:

       The deep red gas is Chromyl chloride and the yellow compound
       formed is Sodium chromate.
