Na2CO3 reactions

Hello
I had some NaHCO3 in a cup. then it was mixed with rain and
after some day it became solid, I think it can used as a binder.
if I can modify it with some additives it will very good for me.
is there any other reaction with NaHCO3 or Na2CO3 that at first
is liquid and then be solid after a while?
it must solve in water very slowly.

sorry for late reply....but my first question will be; what is
the source of your NaHCO3? did you use pure NaHCO3?
pure NaHCO3 itself is not really a good binder, but addition of
small quantities of Al2(SO4)3 or AlCl3 willl coagulate the
particles of the NaHCO3 and improve the quality of your stuff

Hi
I need that for make a polishing block. so it must act as a
mortar to bond Al2O3 and potassium oxalate together.
I test NaHCO3 and Na2CO3 but it reacted with potassium oxalate.
so I think it could not suitable for it.
one of the binders is phenol formaldehyde resin and good for
this. but it need hot press and difficult for me.
I am looking for a organic binder that I could heated it for
melting and then mixing with powders like Al2O3 and oxalic and
then molding and wait for be solid . but the problem was - the
brick mass lose is poor so it have very high life time and lead
to decrease quality.
I need a material that it`s melting point is about 50-60
centigrade degree and can act as a binder for Al2O3.(organic)
(I do not know chemistry because my major is metallurgy )
