Boron trioxide

I've prepared some Boron trioxide for my next video. It is one
of the very difficult compounds to crystallize. It can be
prepared conveniently by heating Boric acid to redness. First it
gives, metaboric acid - HBO2) but on further heating it gives
glassy needle crystals of Boron trioxide (B2O3 (the anhydride of
boric acid). It really turns sticky (almost stretching like a
spider web) and very difficult to scratch it off from the glass
or any other container that you used for heating. Still, the
hard part isn't over yet. I've to pulverize it before using. It
slowly cools down and solidified like a rock. Really a hard
crystal. As it is a starting compound for preparing other
compounds of Boron, I need to have it first. Also, I need to use
it immediately as it will slowly react with moisture in the
atmosphere and turn into boric acid again. Then all of my work
will be wasted. So, I will take my video tomorrow if I'll be
able to pulverize the crystal. Let's see.

Oh, finally, I decided to drop the idea of Shooting Boron
compounds other than borates as it was pretty hard :-(

how about preparing B2H4; A nice analog of C2H4?

Yeah, but we need borides or boron halides for it. To prepare
borides, we need Boron trioxide anyway.
