So i wanna try creating my own fireworks for the new year
celebration^_^
just something simple that can produce colorful sparks...not
necessarily verry beautiful :D .... So what chemicals should i
be looking at? Are they cheap also? Any information will be
helpful:)
I've been asking my science folks but i just try posting here to
see if someone has ideas...

What about thermites? Thermites are always very exciting to
watch. I love Manganese thermite more than Iron (the most famous
of all) as it is so bright like a burning star. You would say
dammmmmmmn.... hahaha
Here ya go!

Flash powders are fun too. But, problem with them is, it won't
be last even for a second and also most of them are TOOOOO
sensitive. So, it should be handled with utmost care. However,
there are some flash powders which are not very sensitive but
good for your fireworks and exciting too. Aluminium + sulfur +
nitrates (to supply oxygen for the reaction to proceed) is one
such kind. They do burn constantly and will last for a few
seconds. PLEASE DO NOT USE AMMONIUM NITRATE IN THIS COMPOSITION
AS IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR THIS REACTION. Sodium or
Potassium nitrate are always preferable for this reaction as
most of the other nitrates are deliquescent in nature. I did try
with almost all nitrates. Aluminium nitrate was funny again and
it liberated some nitrogen dioxide with crackling sound hahhaha.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE REACTIONS SHOULD NOT BE DONE ON A LARGE
SCALE AS THEY ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. A GRAM OR TWO ARE
SUFFICIENT TO DO THIS REACTION. AGAIN, PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHILE
DOING THESE.

Michel, no, but, I will make one for you in the upcoming week
:-)
You are very welcome Likecrazy :-) I forgot to mention, please
make sure there is not much difference in the reactivity between
two substances that you are going to use in Thermite.

Okay, almost shot the Sodium nitrate video. However, I would
like to add some fireworks at the end as Michel wants to see :-)
