Definitions

Okay, so I've never been satisfied with many definitions of mass
and energy. so tell me, how do you define these physical
quantities?

oh god, you must being learning philosophy. hahhaha
i think every mass is energy, but not all energy is in mass.
one day, heisenberg postulate that wave is particle and particle
is a wave. (dualism of particle)
so i think, energy is substance for everything in universe

E=mc2, meaning all energy is mass and all mass is energy. if you
combine a mass of matter with its exact mass of anti matter, it
becomes anihilated and converted to energy (radiation in most
cases)
like the reaction of a positron with an electron to give two
gamma photons..etc etc, but i'm not interested in all these.
What I'm looking for is a coincise definition of mass and
energy. From what I see they appear to be more or less arbitrary
numbers, (for mass especially, suitable for a specified inertial
frame) then what about energy? we talk about energy changes, but
what then is energy?
now it seems i'm ranting here :)

so one day my physics teacher taught me that:
energy is something used to do any process to made them
spontaneous.
gain energy is mean higher energy density, so isnt spontaneous,
loss energy is mean lower energy density, so that is spontaneous

of course that's true, but this definition is more chemical than
physical :>
