       Problem of the week-17/12/12
   DIR By: Michel

When gas X reacts with an amine, the molar mass of the organic
       product is increased by 26g
       [ie M.Mass of organic product-M.Mass of amine=26g]
When gas X reacts with excess of an alkanol, the molar mass of
the organic product is increased by 62.5g
When gas X reacts with a carboxylic acid, the molar mass of the
organic product is increased by 18.5g.
Each of these reactions produces a gas Y.
       Identify X and Y.
What are the products obtained when X reacts with ammonia?

Uhmmm...just make an attempt. It might be either easy or
       difficult, but not 'normal'

hey...can someone find the solution before the new year? That'd
       be worth +20 karma :P

       No one taking this?...
I just edited the OP now. A new word 'excess' is now included in
       the post :/
hope this new word proves helpful to anyone attempting the
       question...

Still no one? I really want to post another POTW, but this is
       still pending :(
Please respond if you've at least attempted the question
before...what compounds have you tried? Where did you get stuck?
Do you feel the question is wrong? etc... I'm ready to provide
       hints if I see attempts.
       Thank you

       Y is HCl, X is not PCl3
