Sorry I'm a bit late with this, but it's simple;)
a solution of Salt A was electrolysed, and three gases X, Y and
Z were obtained as major products. The pH of the solution
increased as the electrolysis progressed, and Na+ was confirmed
present in the solution.
When gases X and Y are reacted at high temperatures, a toxic gas
B is one product of the reaction.
Mixing some of Y with B and heating in the presence of finely
divided Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst gives methanol.
Identify all the unknown compounds.

B- Carbon monoxide?
Y- Hydrogen
A - Sodium acetate?

I would agree with Shiva.
X = Carbon Dioxide
Y = Hydrogen Gas
B = Carbon Monoxide
Z = Ethane
A = Sodium Acetate
If B is CO and Y is H2, X has to be CO2 because:
CO2 + H2 -> CO + H2O
As said by Michel, X + Y -> B
B has to be CO because CO reacts with H2 in the presence of
Copper Zeolite to form Methanol.
I would also take a guess that A is Sodium Acetate and Z being
Ethane.

Kolbe electrolysis of an acetate salt in the general form
2RCOOM==> R-R + CO2 + H2O + MOH
M is a metal ion.
Of course this is a highly coincise description, as the reaction
proceeds via free radical mechanism, and various intermediates
and side products are possible. This electrolysis provides a
good route to symmetrical alkanes in the laboratory.
Hmmn...I make the question tricky and it sits up for three
weeks, I try to simplify and it's solved the same day it's
posted!
