5.00g of a mixture containing 20% NaCl and two other compounds
was heated in the absence of air, and 0.510g of a gas X was
evolved. 5.00g of the mix was heated in stoichiometric amount of
KClO3. The mix was heated until the desired reaction was
complete, resulting in evolution of 0.928g of gas Y.
When 5.00g of the mix is dissolved in 20 ml water, the solution
is alkaline, and the molar concentration of Na+ is 3.42M. 2.00g
of a white suspension of undissolved particles was also
obtained. This white suspension was collected and reacted with
some dilute H2SO4, resulting in evolution of 0.510g of gas X.
When the resulting solution was treated with stoichiometric
amount of NaOH, 1.584g of a metal hydroxide was formed. This
hydroxide will dissolve, forming a clear solution if excess NaOH
is added.
Identify gases X and Y. What are the other two compounds in the
mixture and what is the % of each by mass?

The compounds are common, so the question wouldn't be difficult.
There are clues here and there, use them..

Could be nice to start by trying a few compounds and seeing if
the math hold up.

I tried this 2 times, two days ago and few days after it was
posted. The math just wouldn't hold up :-\.

Me just thinking where we used Sodium chloride with 2 mixtures
and why we need to heat them in the absence of air. If I will
be able to solve these two questions then this problem is almost
solved. Heating in the absence of air means, the product or one
among the reactants might react with water or easily oxidized by
the air. Still thinking lol damn.
