How can 3,4-dimethyl-3-hexanol be prepared from 2-butanol?

1. Oxidize 2-butanol to the corresponding ketone.
2. Another amount of 2-butanol reacts with HBr, then it gets
dissolved in ether with Mg.
3.Ketone from 1. reacts with the obtained Grignard reagent from
2.
Now you check if the product is 3,4-dimethyl-3-hexanol.
