I am not really sure about the final product, but I guess a
Favorskii-type reaction occuring. Don't know if it's right, but
here's what I guess:

Edit: I think the final lactone might also get hydrolysed so
maybe we will get the corresponding γ-hydroxy carboxylic
acid as the final product...
Edit 2: lol it should have been γ-hydroxy and not δ.
Still, is this correct?
Edit 3: Seems like I messed up the number of Carbon atoms... :D
