       Solve- Organic Chem

I should have made a POTW but I somehow ran out of gas :'(
Anyway, I just want to post this one to see if any one is
       interested ...
An organic compound, A(C3H6O) was treated with acidified
disodium dichromate to give B(C3H6O2). Compound B was reacted
with ethanol in the presence of a small amount of H2SO4 to give
C(C5H10O2) which had a fruity smell. In a separate experiment, A
was treated with NaCN in sulfuric acid solution to give
D(C4H7NO) which was hydrolysed to E(C4H8O3). Compound E, on
heating with lime gave F(C3H8O). Compound F was reacted with
acetic acid with a little quantity of HCl to give G(C5H10O2. On
analysis, G was found to be different from C.
Suggest names for compounds A to G
and (if possible;)) give the reactions involved

       Why can't A be propanal?

       Yes, A is propanal.

equations? Taking a closer look, seems some of your structures
       are incorrect

       1)3CH3CH2CHO(A)+Cr2O72-+8H+→3CH3CH2COOH(B)+2Cr3++4H2O
       2)CH3CH2COOH+C2H5OH→CH3CH2COOC2H5(C)+H2O
       3)CH3CH2CHO+CN-+H+→CH3CH2CH(OH)CN (D)
       4)CH3CH2CH(OH)CN+H2O→CH3CH2CH(OH)COOH (E)
       5)CH3CH2CH(OH)COOH+2NaOH→CH3(CH2)2OH (F)+Na2CO3+H2O
       6)CH3(CH2)2OH+CH3COOH→CH3COOC3H7 (G)+H2O
I hope that this is right.
