Ammonium borate

I've prepared some ammonium borate today and you can see it in
the picture :-) It is not a chemical that you often encountered
with in your lab. I will study the properties later today.

Just by mixing ammonium hydroxide and boric acid and evaporated
the solution to dryness.

Could be nice for me to prepare this at home since I'm presently
on a holiday. But Getting Boric acid would be my headache :/

Aww! Enjoy the holiday :-) Why buying it would be a headache? It
is cheap and can get easily.

It's not easy here :-( You will have to place an order, fill in
the name of your organization, reasons you need it.
Alternative is to bribe your way through, but I wont do that :)

Oh damn! that's not great. Why are they seeking for so many
formalities? Boric acid is not a hazardous chemical.

sure, but there are many terrorist groups here that prepare
explosives and bombs from easily available chemicals. They use
these stuff for real destruction, it's a kinda religeous war.
Most times the police cant say which chem is harmful or not so
we have to be careful, we cant get them easily.

mmhh! yes, hope, they won't ban Sodium chloride or Calcium
hypochlorite (bleaching powder) for this reason, giggles.
