       applications of petroleum chemistry in petroleum exploration

       petroleum engineersuse the science of petroleum chemistry to
       assist them in petroleum exploration. They can get clues on how
       the oil was formed millions of years ago fromthe properties and
       composition of  the oil. Geochemical and petrophysical analysis
       give information on the type of hydrocarbons present in the oil.
       Knowledge of petroleum chemistry is also applied in well
       logging- tracking the properties of an oil well at various
       depths, determination of the volume of oilin a reservoir,
       determination of the lifespan of an oil well, etc. Petrochemical
       knowledge is also essential in determining the impact of
       petroleum exploration on the natural environment
