       Short simple question :)

       Simple question to keep the chem nuts tight :)
       Some crushed yam was heated with dilute HCl and warmed for 30
       minutes. A compound B with a sweet taste was formed. B was then
       treated with the enzyme zymase and the mix was distilled. The
       distillate was a clear, colorless liquid, C. Liquid C was then
       warmed with acetic acid, acidified with a few drops of conc.
       sulfuric acid. A compound, D with a fruity smell was formed.
       Identify the compounds A, B, C, D.
       By the way..consider attempting the problem of the week that's
       still unsolved for weeks. It's stickied in the General Chemistry
       Discussion board.

       B= sugar (Probably glucose)
       C= ethanol
       D=ethylacetate
       Very simple :-D
