Redox Chemistry Question

A laboratory Chemist wanted to dissolve some Fe(OH)2 to produce
aq. Fe2+ ions.
For reasons best known to him, he decided to use Chlorine water
HOCl . He found that this was of Course impossible.
Using appropriate redox reactions; explain why the technique
was fruitless, hence give the products he likely obtained
