       How do you prepare ethene in your lab?
       This is general
       C2H5OH+H2SO4--->C2H4 +H2O
       Sulphuric acid being a dehydrating agent.
       Do you know of any other routes? Share, tell of other methods of
       ethene synthesis

       Dehydration of alcohols using aluminium oxide(Al2O3) as catalyst
       1. The dehydration of ethanol to give ethene
       This is a simple way of making gaseous alkenes like ethene. If
       ethanol vapour is passed over heated aluminium oxide powder, the
       ethanol is essentially cracked to give ethene and water vapour.
       C2H5OH --->C2H4 +H2O
       Al2O3 used as catalyst
       It wouldn't be too difficult to imagine scaling this up by
       boiling some ethanol in a flask and passing the vapour over
       aluminium oxide heated in a long tube.
