Question to keep the organics going...
An organic acid reacts with Sodium hypochlorite to produce two
compounds A and B
A was mixed with Soda lime and heated in a round bottomed
flask until the reaction was completed. This reaction produced a
gas C .
When Conc.HCl was added to a solution of B, a gas D is
evolved; bubbling this gas through C in the presence of bright
sunlight yields Chloroform. Identify A, B, C and D

Here's my attempt at it...
Let the organic acid be CH3COOH. Then it reacts with NaOCl to
produce HOCl(B) and CH3COONa(A).
CH3COONa(A), when reacted with soda lime, undergoes
decarboxylation to produce CO2 and CH4(C).
Now HClO when treated with conc. HCl, liberates water molecules
and Cl2 gas(D). When Cl2 is bubbled through liquid CH4 in
presence of sunlight, we get CHCl3 along with other
chloromethanes.
