How can we get children that are adornments? There’s a formula
in the quran and I want you to listen carefully. The way out is
that we must emulate the example of Prophet Ibrahim, alai salam
(peace be upon him). Ibrahim was experiecend of not having a
child for a long time. Do you remember? He prayed and prayed
until eventually, he had a child in old age. So he was an
example of trial of not having children. You appreciate
something twice, 1. Before you get it and 2. After you loose it.
He missed Ismail when Hajara had to take him away from him. He
left Hajara with Ismail in the desert and went back to Saratu.
Let me give you an example about children. When he came many
years after to visit Ismail. He met a wife of Ismail. Ibrahim
met his wife and asked her how things were going? And she said
things were tough in this barren land. She complained and
sounded ungrateful. And Ibrahim said when her husband comes, she
should tell him to change his door knob. So when Ismail came,
she told him and he said it was his father Ibrahim and he said
he should divorce her. And he did. So later Ibrahim, peace be
upon him, came back another time and met another wife and when
he asked her how things were. She said they’re doing good and
that all is well. she was positive and said they have water and
meat in the house. And Ibrahim prayed over the water and meat
and that Allah should bless it and increase it. And he said she
should tell Ismail to keep the door knob and that the door knob
is very good. So when Ismail came back, his wife said that a man
came to visit you and said you should keep your door knob. So he
said, that was my father Ibrahim, pbh, and he’s saying that I
should keep you. And he did. Allah said Ibrahim should perfect
the house for those that will be making sujuud and ruku and
tawaf (positions in prayer with prostration). Ibrahim prayed
that they should make this city to be a rest of mind and provide
fruits for people of this place because then they only had meat
and water. So Ibrahim prayerd several years ago (thousands of
years ago) to make Mecca a secure place and a place of rest of
mind and Allah should provide what they will eat for them. Allah
has given them peace of mind. Also, the oil they have allows
them to control the power of crude oil because Ibrahim made a
dua (prayer) so many years ago. The Prophet Muhammed, pbh, said
he’s one of the answers of Ibrahim’s prayers. Quran ch. 2 v 129.
They asked prophet how did you start to become a prophet and he
said he started several years ago when Ibrahim made that dua.
Prophet said it’s the dua of my father, Ibrahim alai salam that
made him a prophet. And then his mother saw a light that
radiated from her and saw the sign that I was not an ordinary
child. You also could be an answer to a prayer someone made many
years ago. That prayer could be what is happening in your life
now. if your parents say may your children take care of you the
way you take care of me. If they say that, its going to be
answered. Some are living the curses of others. Some are being
punished for the curse of a distant grandmother or grandfather.
The punishement of Allah could come to the child or children of
that person that was cursed. Ibrahim went to Ismail and said
Allah said he should build a house. And he started and there was
a stone they were to put in a particular place and he sent
Ismail to look for the stone and angel Jibril, pbh, put the
stone there. So Ismail asked that where did this stone come from
and you asked me to bring a stone. So Ibrahim said the one that
was faster than you brought it. So Allah said make a call to the
people to come for hajj. Allah said they would come from all
distances to this palce. Ibrahim said oh Allah how can I call
people when there is nobody here? So he said just call the
people and we will convey your call. So Ibrahim said Oh mankind,
your Lord has established a house so come and pray in this
house. It was said that the mountains lowered their heads so
others could hear even though no one was around. Ibrahim made
this call long time ago(thousands of years ago) when there was
no one around to listen tohim and Allah says we will convey the
message. So this is the challenge for us. Just make your dua and
Allah will convey it. Rent Ibrahim as your parent. Quran ch 25 v
24 are the type of children we should pray for. This one is
beyond your immediate children but the children yet to be born.
If you can pray to Allah like this and Allah answers your
prayers, everyone will say they haven’t seen this type of prayer
before. No prayer is not answered but some things can be delayed
or diverted. Don’t let your carelessness cause your dua to be
taken away by evil eye. Don’t let your carelessness allow your
children to not have manners. Everyone should be careful with
their parenting. The prophet said when the child of Allah should
die, all their deeds will come to an end except 3 things; 1. An
ongoing charity or sadaqa jariah. 2. A knowledge that is being
benefitted from and 3. A righteous child that will pray for you
after your death. Allah has already sent a warning to us that oh
you who believe, save yourselves and children from the hell
fire. Let us take Ibrahim alaihi salaam as our model.
May Allah keep guiding us all and increase our Iman
