PARENT AND CHILDREN PART 2
BismilLaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
Let's continue from the first Reminder. When Allah talks about
enemity, HE didn’t combine wealth and children, he combined
women and children. Allah says amongst your wives and children,
are enemies on to you. Ibn Katheer says they may divert a man to
disobey his Lord. Too much love for your wife and children can
cause you to disobey Allah. When the wife is an enemy, she’ll
make the children hate the father. Because of the power of
motherhood. Allah says beware of them. Why would Allah say we
should be aware of our wives and children? Some embraced Islam
in mecca and wanted to do hijra to Medina but their wives and
children blackmailed them emotionally and spiritually. They’ll
say, if you go, you won’t know your son, etc. When they later
joined the prophet, they found that those that came earlier were
more knowledgeable. And so they went back home to admonish their
wife and children. They’ll say the baby will not know his
father, and I will not know you and you’ll be away for so long,
etc. but Allah says if you pardon your wives and children and if
you forgive, verily Allah is oft forgiving most merciful.
Meaning that wife and children can trick you with emotional
blackmail. Allah says amongst them meaning not all of them.
Amongst them are enemies to you. Are children as fitna or trial
to you. Allah says I’ll try you with good and evil as trials.
Quran Ch 31 v 35. Allah didn’t say amongst your wealth and
children are fitna, he said indeed, in your wealth and children
are fitna. If they’re good to you, their being good is fitna nd
if they’re bad for you, they’re being bad to you is a trial. So
you can be tried whether you’re a good person or bad person. In
fact, if you’re a good person, Allah can try you more than
someone that’s bad. Allah says a person is tried based on the
level of his religiosity.
