RAMADHAN FASTING IN BIBLE

THE HOLY MONTH OF RAMADAN AND THE VIEW OF THE BIBLE
What is Ramadan?
This is a little bit comprehensive definition of Ramadan...
🏵 Ramadan is the month of fasting. It is the ninth month
of the Islamic calendar (lunar calendar) which is the most
special month to all Muslims around the Globe. In this holy
month of Ramadan, fasting is observed by Muslims worldwide. This
annual observance is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of
Islam. The month lasts 29 or 30 days based on the visual
sightings of the crescent moon, this goes in accord with the
teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sola Llaahu `Alayhi
Wasallam).
The word “Ramadan” comes from the Arabic root word “ramida or
arramad” which means scorching heat or dryness.
Regarding the fasting in this holy month of Ramadan, Almighty
Allah says:
🌻 “O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as
it was prescribed for those before you, that you may have
Piety.”
(Suuratul Baqoroh. Qur’an 2:183).
The holy month of fasting which is Ramadan did not start during
the time of Prophet Muhammad. People have been fasting before
the Prophet and that is why Almighty Allah says “Fasting is
prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you…”
This is evident in the bible as well, it is well elucidated and
crystal clear in the book of Jeremiah but before I go their, I
will like to say some importance attached to Ramadan.
🕌 The month of Ramadan is holy and it keeps one who
fasts holy.
🕌 Qur’an was revealed in the holy month of Ramadan
🕌 Almighty Allah purifies the Muslims that fast in the
holy month of Ramadan
🕌 The mercy of Allah is in abundant and as a result of
that you may come out of your sins as the snakes come out of
their skins (scales)
🕌 Ramadan has a lot of benefits that one cannot even
comprehend, and in the sequel verse to the above verse, Allah
says “…and that you fast is better for you,” that is to say many
people do not know the benefits of Ramadan
🕌 Fasting has medical benefits which do not in any form
reduce your reward, so keep fasting annually just for a month.
Back to the primary discussion which is the talk about fasting.
Almighty Allah says, it was prescribed for those who came before
us, (i.e. the messengers before Prophet Muhammad and their
followers including Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of
Marry, a slave and a messenger of Almighty Allah)
The bible said:
“In the ninth month of the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah
king of Judah, a time of fasting before the LORD was proclaimed
for all the people in Jerusalem and those who had come from the
towns of Judah.” Jeremiah 36:9.
If you take a look at the biblical verse above, it should be
noted that the fasting was proclaimed in the ninth month which
is the same month of Ramadan in the Islamic Calendar, that time
Jesus was not yet born and they have been fasting in the ninth
month, this means Ramadan has been in existence even before
Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
👉🏽 Another point you need to take note of is
this; that time the calendar used was the lunar calendar and
that same calendar is adopted in Islam. Gregorian calendar which
is commonly used today was later invented by a man called
Gregory and it is confirmed as an error based calendar, the
calendar is named after the man who was a pope, he introduced
this error based calendar in 1582.
🕹 Note: Gregorian calendar was not up to twelve months
before but the discussion on calendar is a topic of another day;
let it be cut short till the appropriate time.
The everlasting calendar which should be accepted by everybody
is the Islamic calendar that Allah Himself recommends in the
glorious Qur’an in Suuratu Ttawbah; Allaah Sub’haanahu wata`aala
says:
🌻 “Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve
[lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He
created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred
(i.e. four months of twelve). That is the correct religion, so
do not wrong yourselves during them. And fight against the
disbelievers collectively as they fight against you
collectively. And know that Allah is with the righteous [who
fear Him].”
(Suuratu Ttawbah. Qur’an 36:9)
In the sacred month of Ramadan, it is traditional to give
admonition persistently with aim to getting Muslims acquainted
with the spirit and mercy of Ramadan. Instead of engaging
yourself in vain talks, give admonition or listen to admonition
which will earn you rewards before the Almighty Allah, here and
in the hereafter. The same method was applied in the bible in
the verse that precedes the biblical verse quoted above (i.e.
Jeremiah 36:9)...
The bible said:
“Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the
prophet commanded him, reading from the book the words of the
LORD in the LORD'S house.” Jeremiah 36:8
To be more emphatic on corroborating the factual facts
confirming the existence of the month of Ramadan in the bible,
let us quickly check the subsequent verse to Jeremiah 36:9.
“Then Baruch read from the book the words of Jeremiah in the
house of the LORD in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan
the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the New Gate of
the LORD'S house, to all the people.…”
In Ramadan, you see Islamic scholars and preachers preaching in
almost every place, e.g. mosques, streets, on air (radio and
television stations) etc. they strive to admonish all people
about their religion and they become sensitive to all form of
atrocities, when they notice a bad act from a particular person,
they call his attention and correct him with immediate effect,
that is the sole purpose of Ramadan. Allah says “…so that you
may have piety”...
That piety that might possibly remains after Ramadan may help us
to mend our ways and become more righteous
🕹 Ramadan may serve as a turning point for some sinners
and they would not go back to their sins, they may become better
Muslims. Ramadan is alternative for all of us to amend our
relationship with our Creator, the Lord of all that exist.
🎋 Almighty Allah says the glorious Qur’an was revealed
in the holy month of Ramadan meanwhile we understand at the same
time that Qur’an was revealed to the holy Prophet consecutively
for 23 years, is something fishy not happening here?! Is this
not contradictory to each other? No, let us go through that
briefly.
Qur’an was revealed from a house situated in the seventh heaven,
the house is called “Baytul Ma`amuur” this house is at the same
point with Ka`abah. Houses of Almighty Allah are in all heavens
with different names at the same point of one another. The one
in the first heaven is called “Baytul`Izzah” and it is the house
Qur’an was revealed to in the month of Ramadan from “Baytul
Ma`amuur” that is where Angel Gabriel (Jubreel) used to pick and
reveal to the holy messenger of Allah, and he did that for 23
years consecutively.
🕹 All the divine books of Allah was revealed the same
way not only the Qur’an, Allah elevated Ramadan out of the other
months by choosing it to reveal the Glorious Qur'an.
Imam Ahmad reported Wathilah bin Al-Asqa` that Allah’s Messenger
said:
🕌 “The Suhuf (Pages) of Ibrahim were revealed during the
first night of Ramadan. The Torah was revealed during the sixth
night of Ramadan. The Injil was revealed during the thirteenth
night of Ramadan. Allah revealed the Qur’an on the twenty-fourth
night of Ramadan.”
Tafseer Ibn Katheer.
To finalize the story of fasting, all messengers of Allah and
their followers fasted in the ninth month which is Ramadan!
Allah says “…Fasting is prescribed for us as it was prescribed
for those before us, so that we may have piety.”
These are further references on fasting:
“Consecrate a fast, Proclaim a solemn assembly; Gather the
elders and all the inhabitants of the land To the house of the
LORD your God, And cry out to the LORD.” Joel 1:14
“Then the people of Nineveh believed in God; and they called a
fast and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least of
them.” Jonah 3:5
At this juncture, we thank Almighty Allah Who granted us Islam,
we would have gone astray like others if not for His mercy on
us. May He hold our feet firm on Islam and may He take our souls
when He is pleased and satisfied with us in our worships.
Aameen!
The fact remains unshakable, despite all the manipulations of
the bible some truths about Islam are still found their in.
It is our duty to reach out to the non-Muslims​ and tell
them the truth...
No Islam No Paradise! Accept Islam Today! Tomorrow might Be Too
Late!
Invite all Non-Muslims today to save them from the way of
shayton to the real light (Islam). May Almighty Allah help us
all. Aameen.
