       [font=impact][tt]CHRISTMAS' CELEBRATION[/tt][/font]
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I
testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and
that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, may Allah exalt his
mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
A Muslim should be thankful to Allah for His great blessings
upon him. He Who Guided him to the right path. So he should keep
on supplicating Allah to make him steadfast on this path which
is the path of blessed people and to keeping him away from the
path of those who deserve His Anger and of those who went
       astray.
The non-Muslims spare no efforts to draw the Muslims away from
the straight path and to cut their relation with their true
religion. Allah Says in Qur'an 2:109 “Many of the people of the
Scripture (Jews and Christians) wish that if they could turn you
away as disbelievers after you have believed, out of envy from
their ownselves, has become manifest unto them. But forgive and
overlook, till Allah brings His Command. Verily, Allah is Able
       to do all things.”
Many muslims didn't understand their religion by celebrating
Christmas and all other festivals with non-Muslims, some Muslims
will say (with ignorance) since they said Christmas is to
celebrate birth day of prophet Isa that means there is nothing
bad in celebrating it with them.
Firstly, we should note that Islam has its festivals practiced
by prophet Muhammad given by Allaah which are Eed Al-Adh-Haa and
'Eed Al- Fitr, weekly festival is Friday.
From this article we are going to know a lot of things about
celebrating Christmas such as the basis of Christmas and reasons
why Muslim can not practice it with them.
       BASIS OF CHRISTMAS
Before a good Muslim will practice anything there must be a
proof for it, there is no where In the bible that
Christmas is an annual festival tagged as the birth of Jesus
Christ, observed most commonly on December 25 as a religious and
cultural celebration among billions of people around the world.
Firstly we should know that Christmas is not birth of Jesus and
if you read Bible from beginning to the end you will not find
even a single word of Christmas being celebrated by any of God's
people! It is not even mentioned once in the
whole Bible, neither by Jesus or by any of his true follows
before or after the death of Jesus.
Christmas is a festival practice by pagans to celebrate the
birth of the Sun god. But it was first recognized as an official
Christian holiday under the Roman Emperor Justinian
(A.D-527-565). Even Bible warned them against it in Jeremiah
       10:3-4).
That's why some pastors like pastor kumuyi of deeper life bible
church, pastor Odukoya of MFM keep saying Christmas is demonic
       which is not good
CAN WE CELEBRATE IT (CHRISTMAS) WITH CHRISTIANS
AS we all knew that whenever foundation of something is bad no
way the building will be good, since the basis of Christmas is
idolatry that means It is not permitted for Muslims to
participate in it because it is a kind of cooperation in the
disobedience of Allah. Allah Says “Help you one another in
Al-Birr and At-Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do
not help one another in sin and transgression” [Quran 5:2].
The Prophet said: "Whoever imitates a nation is but one of
       them." [Abu Dawood]
Celebrating festivals such as Christmas Day, Halloween,
Valentine Day, etc. comes under the falsehood that should be
avoided. Allah Says (what means): {And those who do not bear
witness to falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil
talk, they pass by it with dignity.} [Quran 25:72]. Many
scholars of Qur'an like Ibn Seereen and Mujahid interpret
"falsehood" as the festivals of unbelievers.
       CAN WE CONGRATULATE THEM
Congratulating the disbelievers on their Christmas celebration
or other than that from their religious holidays is not
permissible according to the consensus, because congratulating
them for their feasts is synonymous of accepting their
wrongdoing and disbelief in Allah. It is also accepting their
rites and rituals, which are nothing but disbelief, As was
related by Ibn Al Qayyim, [Ahkham Ad Dhimmah —
       أحكام أهل
       الذمة] when he said:
“As for congratulating the disbelievers for their religious
ceremonies that have kufr (disbelief) attached to it, then it is
not permissible according to the consensus”. For example if
someone says 'Happy Christmas', it is on the same level as
congratulating them for prostrating to the cross. Rather it is a
greater sin with Allah. And it is a more severe abomination than
to congratulate them for drinking alcohol and killing someone,
committing illegal sexual intercourse and things of this nature.
So whoever congratulates a person for committing sins, or
innovations, or disbelief, then he has exposed himself to the
hate, wrath (anger) of Allah.”congratulating the kufar on their
religious holidays is an approval for what they are upon from
their kufr ceremonies, and showing them that you are please with
it. Even if the person is not pleased with the actual kufr
itself and Allah the Exalted is not pleased with that, as Allah
the Exalted says, “If you disbelieve, then verily, Allah is not
in need of you, He likes not disbelief for His slaves. And if
you are grateful (by being believers), He is pleased therewith
for you.”(Surah Az Zumar, Chapter 39 verse 7)
Even if they congratulate us for our feasts, we do not
congratulate them for their feast as we are on the right path
and they are in error. Allah says “And whoever seeks a religion
other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him and in the
Hereafter he will be one of the losers” [Quran 2:85].
CAN WE EAT THEIR FOOD FOR CHRISTMAS
Their foods is allal for us to eat (if is not for festival
celebration) as Allah says in surah maidah where Allah permitted
eating the food of ahlul kitab. Also It is permissible for a
Muslim to accept gifts from the kuffaar or to give them gifts,
especially if they are relatives because prophet Muhammad used
to accept it as well. [Bukhaari (2990), Muslim (1775).]
With regard to gifts given on their festivals, it is not
permissible to give or accept them, because that is venerating
their festivals and expressing approval of them and helping them
       in their kufr.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him)
       said:
If someone gives a gift to the Muslims on these festivals and
that is contrary to his habit at all other times apart from this
festival, then his gift is not to be accepted, especially if the
gift is something that is used to imitate them, such as giving
candles and the like at Christmas, or giving eggs, milk and
lambs on Maundy Thursday, which comes at the end of their fast
       (Lent).
Similarly, no gift should be given to any of the Muslims on
these festivals because of the festival, especially if it is
something that is used to imitate them, as we have stated above.
The Muslim should not sell the things that Muslims could use to
imitate them on that festival, such as food, clothing and the
like, because that is helping them in doing evil.
       Iqtida’ Siraat al-Mustaqeem , p. 227.
And he (may Allaah have mercy on him) also said:
As for the Muslim selling them things that they use for their
festivals, such as food, clothing, herbs and the like, or giving
those things to them, that is a kind of helping them to
       celebrate their haraam festival.
This is based on the principle that it is not permissible to
sell to the kaafirs grapes or juice that they can use for wine,
and it is not permissible to sell them weapons with which they
       can fight the Muslims.
       Iqtida’ al-Siraat al-Mustaqeem , p. 229
