After being pestered by Requiem and Alabaster both for quite
some time, Infinity grew bored and started to head up to his
room. He did not get too far, though, before he stumbled across
the sight of Miren sleeping along the floor. The wizard blinked
in surprise, and then sighed quietly and shook his head with a
smile. "Oh Miren," he breathed, "What in the world are we going
to do with you, you silly thing." Carefully, so as to avoid
waking the girl up, the boy headed over and scooped her up into
his arms so he could bring her to her room.

As Infinity had hoped, the girl didn't wake up as he leaned in
to scoop her up and hold her close. After a few moments while
resting in the apprentice's arms, the girl shifted to nuzzle her
head into Infinity's shoulder.

Sophie was sitting quietly at the dinner table as her father
happily chatted up their guests. The evening meal was quite
delightful and Sophie was quite proud at her abilities as a
cook. She kept her eyes focused on her plate though, only
glancing up now and then to look towards the young man sitting
across from her. A feeling of dread descended upon her... What
on earth was her father thinking?

Infinity blinked and looked down at Miren when he felt her
nuzzling against him. After a moment the wizard smiled, holding
her a bit closer so that he could push the door that separated
her room from the hallway. Once he was inside, the boy made his
way over to lay Miren down on her bed, and pull the blankets up
over her frame.

As Infinity laid her down, the girl instinctively reached out
and grabbed onto the man... Her fingers curling into his shirt
and clinging to him as he pulled the blankets over her frame.
She was still sleeping peacefully even as she snuggled back into
the bed.

Infinity blinked in surprise when he felt Miren grabbing onto
him. The wizard bit his lip and looked down where her hands had
curled into his shirt, trying to figure out what to do. Did he
try to pry her off? What if that woke her up?

Miren continued to cling to Infinity, completely unaware of his
dilemma while staring down at her.

Sophie felt her jaw drop for a moment before she closed her
mouth... Married? Her!? To this oaf!? She stared hard at the
spot where her father had rested her hand into the grasp of her
apparently new fiancee... How could this possibly be? She didn't
want a husband! She didn't want any of this! It took everything
the girl had to just force a smile and just stand it as the
celebrating began.
Her life was ruined... Was her life's goal simply to be married
off to some okay looking village boy and simply clean, cook and
have a family? She didn't want that!

Infinity bit his lip and slowly, carefully, he reached up to try
and uncurl the girl's fingers from his shirt. Please don't wake
up... he thought, watching Miren for any sign that she was about
to wake.

As Infinity pulled her fingers out of his shirt, the girl
shifted and muttered softly... Before she moved to roll over and
cuddle into the pillows and blankets of her bed once more. A
soft sleepy mumble came out of her, but otherwise she remained
asleep.

Infinity hesitated when Miren muttered and shifted, worried he
had woken her up. When he saw she was simply cuddling into the
bed he sighed in relief and stepped back from her bed. "Get some
rest, Miren," the wizard murmured, "You deserve it."
Without wasting any more time, the boy turned and headed out of
her room, making sure to shut the door quietly behind him.

The moment that their guests had left and her father had retired
for the evening, Sophie slipped out of her home and hid her face
behind her hands. Evening had fallen and darkness had covered
the sky. How could her father do this to her? She'd always
expressed her desire to take up the healing arts... But he never
listened.
She lifted her head from her hands, especially upon hearing the
sound of the wind that caused the trees of the forest to creak
and shift about. Maybe... She could run away? Flee into the
forest and just keep going until she couldn't run any further.
After all, if she did that then she'd be free. Free from
expectations that were far too restricting to her.
Without her even realizing it, Sophie's feet started taking her
faster and faster towards the forest... Completely ignoring the
stories she'd heard of horrible witches who'd eat the hearts of
young maidens.
