Alabaster had found great enjoyment in watching the girl. She
was beautiful, yes, but there was something else about her that
seemed to draw him in. The wizard could not put a finger on it
though...
As the girl walked away from the meat booth, Alabaster came to a
stop off to the side, instead of following after her. He could
still see her, though,and that was enough. She was unfamiliar to
him... He had never seen her wandering the streets before today.
Was she from around here?

Hearing someone call out to him, the flame glowing in the hearth
blinked open one of his eyes and looked up at Miren. As the girl
spoke to him, and asked if he could heat up some water, the fire
whined a bit and became more animated - gazing at Miren with
both eyes open now, and a pout on his mouth. "Does he need to
take a bath right now?" the flame whined, dulling slightly as if
he had deflated a bit, "It's a hassle trying to keep this stupid
thing moving!"
"Oh come now, Frost~!" Requiem hummed from his perch on the
chair, smirking over at the flame, "You're a tough demon! Surely
you can handle it!"
"Well yeah, I can," he murmured, "But it's still horribly
tiring!"
"You heard the explosion just now, right?" the flame nodded, and
Requiem continued, "Surely Infinity's going to need a bath after
something blew up."
Frost was silent for a moment before he sighed - a bit of smoke
puffing out from his mouth as he did so. "Fine," the demon
grumbled, "I'll warm some water up."

Still the girl was oblivious to Alabaster's presence watching
her, after buying a few more odds and ends she pretty much
finished with her shopping. She turned and began to head back
towards her home. "That should be good for tonight... I wonder
how many people, father has asked over." She murmured to
herself, after all it was quite a bit of food and her basket was
heavy as she carried it in her arms.

Miren's face seemed to fall into a very sad expression as Frost
tried to tell her no... Obviously rather put out that she could
possibly fail to get Infinity some hot water. Her head lowered
and she stared down at the ground, shuffling her feet a bit.
"O-oh..."
Though the next moment Requiem was talking to the fire demon and
somehow had convinced the thing to heat the water up. The girl's
face lifted and lit up with delight. "Oh thank you Frost!" She
gasped out, smiling brightly at the demon before rushing back to
where Infinity was.

Alabaster kept his eyes on Sophie for a little while longer,
desperately wishing that the girl would give him some sort of
opening to talk to her, even if it was unintentional on her
part. It would be weird for him to walk over without any reason,
especially since the two did not know each other...
The wizard sighed, and ran a hand through his dark black hair.
He never had this many issues with trying to court a woman...
Why was he having such a tough time now?

"Don't be too put off by him, Miren," Requiem hummed as he
caught on to the girl's sadness, "you know he's a brat when it
comes to actually doing stuff~" He bit back any other comments,
though, as he saw the girl had turned to run back up the stairs.
While Miren was gone, Infinity had grabbed what he would need,
including a new outfit to wear. The wizard, not really concerned
with much, was clad in only a towel covering his lower half...
Having stripped his clothes to wash them and get the soot off.

Sophie was walking along, her thoughts drifting to various
things as she made her way home. As she walked though, the girl
was completely oblivious to most everything until she heard a
call of, "Sophie!"
Turning, the girl looked behind herself towards where she'd
heard the voice call. Sophie resisted the urge to groan as she
saw who was hurrying up to her... It was Melissa... One of the
biggest gossipers within the village. They weren't what you'd
say 'friends', but when Melissa desired to gab about something
she wasn't necessarily picky. Today was one of those unfortunate
days that she'd noticed Sophie and had decided that she needed
to blab to the red-head for once.
"Sophie! Oh goodness, have you heard the news~? Well?" Melissa
gasped excitedly, her blue eyes sparkling and she was clasping
her hands together while bouncing on her heels.
The red-head fought to keep the exasperated look on her face
from showing, instead she just pulled a smile on her face and
attempted to look pleased to see the girl. "Ah... No."
"Oh well then I simply must tell you!" There was a moment of
silence as Melissa pulled in a deep breath and Sophie tried to
interject with a diversion so she could slip away, but it was
too late. "I've just received news that Alabaster has broken off
the courtship with that one trollop... I can't even remember her
name! But this is such good news! I simply must go get a new
dress, I hear Fredrick the Tailor has a new design and I simply
must have it. You never know, it may just attract his
attention~! Though I hear plenty of other girls have been
rushing about in hopes that they might catch his attention you
know. Of course, I have no need for such things!"
"Uh huh..." Sophie muttered, shifting the heavy basket within
her arms as she hoped to the deities in the sky that Melissa
might finish and quickly...
"After all, I'm the daughter of one of the wealthiest people in
this village... I certainly have no need of waltzing around the
village street trying to look attractive when all I have to do
is throw a grand party. Oh why now there's an idea! Throw a
party and invite Alabaster! Oh Sophie, it's so tiring being
someone like me! Constantly coming up with brilliant ideas!
Sometimes I wish I were a boy and then I could take over my
father's business, I'm certainly much smarter than that cow of a
brother of mine. But then if I were a boy, I couldn't enjoy the
likes of... Alabaster..."
The hopeful sigh in Melissa's voice trailed off and she stared
off into space with a dreamy expression there, obviously day
dreaming about a certain wizard sweeping her up off her feet.
"Right... Have fun with that..." Sophie replied, her voice
carefully measured so her tone of sarcasm didn't slip through.
It was written clear across her face though, thankfully Melissa
was far too distracted to notice that the other girl had no
interest what so ever in the wizard Alabaster.

"Thank you, Requiem!" Miren told the boy, turning back towards
him to offer the boy a smile before she slipped off into the
halls. She made her way back towards where she'd left
Infinity... Only to be confronted with the sight of Infinity
clad only in a towel...
A gasp left Miren's lips and her entire face turned a bright
intense shade of red, quickly the girl turned around and covered
her face with her hands. "Eep!" She squeaked shyly, refusing to
look back towards the apprentice as she flushed all the harder.

As Alabaster caught sight of the girl coming to a stop, his
interest became piqued once more. The wizard drew closer to her,
still hiding out of sight, to try and see what caught her off
guard. Before long, another woman approached, and he managed to
catch on to the other girl calling out a name. Sophie, the
wizard thought, letting the name roll around in his brain for a
moment, before he smiled. "A beautiful name. It suits her," he
added out loud.
Before he could get too lost in thought, though, the boy's
attention was once again snatched up, as the second woman began
to speak again. When he heard his name thrown out, the wizard
smirked, and stood a bit straighter as if he were proud,
especially as the woman speaking began to carry on about how
much she wished his attention could fall on her. If only she
knew that he was currently watching her, and listening to
everything she said. The man chuckled.
However, while the other girl had missed the reactions in
Sophie's face and eyes, Alabaster picked up on them too easily.
The wizard frowned slightly, and tilted his head to the side.
Was there actually a woman who was not interested in him? He was
surprised by this. It was not often that the man came across a
maiden who was not insane with love for him, and though he would
not admit it outright, it was almost... refreshing. She would be
a challenge, that much he was certain of.

Infinity had been distracted with putting his clothes away,
inside of a bucket so he cold wash them when he was done. The
new wizard had not even noticed that Miren came back, until he
heard a gasp and someone squeaked. He blinked, and then turned
his head down the hallway to see what was going on.
The poor boy was oblivious to the fact that Miren was
embarrassed over catching him wearing nothing more than a towel.
He tilted his head, and asked, "Are you alright, Miren?"

Melissa just wouldn't shut up! How long could one girl talk
about practically the same thing? Everything that left this
girl's lips revolved around Alabaster in some way shape or form.
Which was typical for most young women in this village and even
for a number of the older women... How could so many girls be
obsessed about one man? After hearing about some of his
exploits, he sounded quite a bit like a lech to her! And if she
had anything to say about it, then there was no way she'd get
involved with that.
"You know what!" Sophie stated, making sure that her words cut
through Melissa's sentence and interrupting her. The red-head
could see Melissa's eyes darken and her cheeks puff out
indignantly for being interrupted so rudely, but Sophie didn't
give her a chance. "If you have so many questions about what
Alabaster might like or what he might not like... Why don't you
just write him a letter asking him all those tiny little
details~?"
"Oh! That is such a brilliant idea!" Melissa's anger disappeared
immediately and she gasped as the letter already started to
compose itself in her head. "I should go do that right now!
Thank you so much! Byye~!"
Yes! Success! Sophie mentally cheered to herself, breathing a
sigh of relief. She didn't feel guilty at all for diverting
Melissa's attention onto Alabaster, knowing that the wizard
would probably start receiving tons upon tons of letters from
various women throughout the town as Melissa blabbed about how
she was going to send him a letter. At least the attention isn't
directed towards me.
With that comforting thought, Sophie turned and began to head
home once more. Eager to get this basket out of her arms.

Miren mumbled incoherently as she pressed her hands against her
face a bit more. She heard Infinity's voice, but the
embarrassment was too much for her at the moment... Rendering
her speechless and her heart hammering incredibly hard within
her chest.

Alabaster snickered as the woman continued to blab on about him,
finding it almost too amusing to watch. However, before she
could go too far, Sophie had snapped at her, and what she
suggested made all color drain from his face. She thought it a
good idea to tell this girl to write him a letter? Did that girl
not realize what she had just done to him? The wizard frowned,
knowing he would have to take action somehow to avoid the swarm
that would soon invade his already cluttered castle...
However, before he could wallow in his misery, the sight of
movement snatched his attention and he quickly looked over to
Sophie's retreating form. He had to act quickly, if he wanted
any time to talk to the beautiful girl...
With a desperate final attempt to stop her, the wizard lifted a
hand and dragged one of his fingers through the air, as if he
were slicing something open. Soon after, the girl's basket tore
apart, and all of the items within it began to spill out.

Infinity frowned, worried because the girl was not speaking to
him. The new wizard took a few steps closer, before murmuring,
"Miren... What's wrong? I don't like knowing that there is
something going on with you and I can't do anything to help..."

Sophie's mind was completely focused on getting home, just
wanting to set her basket down and rest her tired arms. She
couldn't stand the idea that there might be another delay. But
just as her mind considered the possibility, the worst of all
delays happened. The girl heard a tearing sound and with a gasp
she looked down only to see her basket tear open and spill the
contents out across the street.
"Oh you stupid thing!" The girl huffed with frustration and
threw the ruined basket to the ground. Then she moved to kneel
on the cobbled streets and start to pick the items up and hold
them in her arms. Which was going to be a challenge since she
had quite a bit of things to carry.

Miren didn't notice Infinity moving towards her, just trying to
concentrate on hiding her face. "I-I'm fine!" She squeaked, her
voice a slightly higher octave then she would have liked.
"U-um... F-f-frost h-has h-heated the w-water f-for y-your
b-bath!"

As soon as the girl had started to pick her items up, the wizard
took that as his invitation to head over and help her. "Excuse
me," he hummed, moving to kneel down beside Sophie with a smile,
"I could not help but see what happened... It would be rude of
me to not offer my help. Would you like for me to carry a few of
these items for you? Take some of the stress off of you?" As he
spoke, the young-looking wizard could not help but watch the
girl with a rather curious gaze in his eyes.

Infinity frowned, not liking the fact that Miren still was not
looking at him. "Ah... Thank you, Miren," he murmured, though he
sounded almost... Upset, as he spoke. Why wouldn't the girl tell
him what was wrong? Despite his worry, the boy headed over and
leaned in, to kiss the girl's cheek. "I appreciate it, more than
I could say~" As he pulled back, the boy missed the fact that a
bit of soot had rubbed off of his lips and onto her skin.
That said, the wizard turned and headed into the bathroom, not
wanting to torment the girl any further.

Sophie was busy picking her things up so she didn't even notice
as Alabaster approached her. She tilted her head up, blinking as
she saw the man kneeling in front of her. "I can take care of
it," She stated preferring to deal with this herself. After all,
she didn't want to encourage anything since she didn't really
want any sort of relationship at the moment.

Miren's eyes shot open as Infinity's lips pressed against her
cheek briefly. She stiffened up, caught completely by surprise
and embarrassment over how he'd just kissed her cheek... The
girl remained silent even as the wizard went into the bathroom.
The next moment once the shower had started to run, the girl's
eyes rolled back into her head and she passed out.
