Hi! I am also Jennifer.
I have always been fat. I was started on anti-depressant
medication back in the 1980s as a young child (5 years old) and
I've been on and off of them all my life. My parents both had
cancer and I was generally left alone, in charge of myself.
Eating became comfort. When I was 18 years old, I got pregnant
with my oldest son. He was born August of 1998. I immediately
got pregnant again. Younger son was born September of 1999.
Divorced first husband in 2001. Daughter was born October of
2003. I've been with my now-husband since December 2006. My
parents were both diagnosed with cancer (again) in 2009. I
became their sole caregiver in 2010. My father died in 2011. My
mother died in 2015. Husband and I got married a few months
after that. My mental health issues have made it impossible to
work outside the home. I have been supporting my family with my
inheritance while oldest son moved out and got married, younger
son started college & is moving out in January and daughter is
now a freshman in high school. My bank people tell me I have a
little over three years left to be able to support us, but I am
hoping to not have to do that. My husband has been in college
for the past two years, earning a degree in IT. He graduates in
June 2019 and the plan is that he will support us and I can dial
back on using my inheritance. Though, I admit, I am tempted to
finish paying off my student loans!
This year is also the first year that I have had any
questionable numbers on my bloodwork - my A1C was 5.7 on
November 28th. My doctor tells me that's the starting point
towards diabetes. I *REALLY* don't want to become a diabetic. I
am currently 350.8 pounds. I'm okay most of the time these days
. . . even though I have fibromyalgia, as well as bipolar
disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. I have my days, but
generally, I do okay.
For the first time in . . . years, I feel like now is the time
to start dreaming. I never really could dream before - it has
been all about survival. But, now, it is more about thriving. I
am considering going to college. I turn 40 on the 27th. I
*NEVER* thought I would live this long. There is this odd sense
of release; that, when I do actually turn 40, I can release this
breath that I have been holding for decades and, finally, live
*my* life.

Oh honey, that sounds like it was quite the childhood!
I am so glad to have you here! What would you like to be called?
I am working on adding notes for the challenges :) for now
though, what kind of fitness goals do you have in mind? I have
some good resources that I wrote on how to make/track a goal (I
am going to be making a specific spot for that, but I can link
you them if you need them now!)
Again, welcome home.
Jenn
