Hula anyone?

I am not sure how to add the video here, of my hula attempts.
Working with Isah, I got further than I have EVER gotten. I got
it to go around FIVE TIMES!!!
I really want to be able to do more. Isah said that her hoop was
just a "target" hoop. I am unsure what that means exactly.
(NOTE: I will msg her and ask!!)
I would like to be able to add that in as a core exercise and as
a finisher!
jacklynhyde you said you have some resources for hooping, can
you share them here?

By "target" hoop, she might just mean that she bought it at
Target!
So the biggest mistake people make with hooping is that they
don't get the right size hoop for their body. Those hoops that
you see at Target, Wal-Mart, etc, in the toy section are way too
small for your average adult to use. The smaller the hoop the
harder it is to keep the hoop up. It's good to buy a bigger,
heavier hoop to start out when you are learning and then size
down as you build the muscle/muscle memory and decide what you
want to do with it. Some people try to size a hoop based on
height (with the thought being a starter hoop should come at
least up to your belly button) but honestly, we all have
different sized waists, so waist measurement is a better
indicator of what you want. Also, a lot of good hoop makers uses
a grippy type of tape on the hoop that helps add weight to it
and a little bit of "grab" which keeps it up as well. Weighted
hoops that are marketed to help you lose weight aren't the best
beginner hoops bc they can be hard on your body and can cause
bruising too.
Ruby Hooping is a great site and they are the place I bought my
first hoop from. (They also have a great FB group and a really
positive community there) Here is a link to a post on their site
for beginners:

But this is the important post, the one that helps you pick your
hoop!

I'm going to try to attach the photo that shows waist size to
hoop size.
Ok, once you've got a hoop, I recommend going to youtube and
looking Deanne Love. She has the best tutorials. She is super
upbeat and positive and really breaks it down. If you find
yourself really loving her and really loving hooping and wanting
to progress, she has a TON of hoop courses that you can pay to
do, and a few free beginners ones. They are all online and go at
your own pace. The best part is the paid price courses are in
Australian dollars, so it's cheaper for us US hoopers. I highly
suggest following her on Instagram at Deannelovexo. She often
times gets inspired by the full moon to give a big full moon
discount on her course. Her courses site is at

I've been hooping for 6 months now and I'm loving it. I have 4
hoops already, in different sizes. If I find other links, I'll
share them here.
