I'm guessing the movie's been pushed into 2019 now. There was a
recent THR article talking about promotions of executives at
Searchlight and they mentioned that this film was a 2019
release, which is the first time I've seen that.
       Too bad.

Why is it bad? 2019 doesn't mean it is going to come out in
Jan/Feb but could come out in the fall of 2019.

I doubt that. That would make it nearly three years after it was
filmed, which almost counts as sitting on the shelf at that
       point.
I think it will be the first quarter of 2019, probably in March
or so. They looked at their finished films for this year and
chose The Favorite as their fall release. That means they
thought it was a bigger contender for awards. And it's been done
for a while now, so if they thought it was good enough they
would definitely be releasing it this fall, they could even put
       it out in December.

Three years? It was filmed in winter 2017 so that would be 2
years! But then again it is all speculation from something
mentioned so no one knows anything. It could also be a mediocre
film so we certianly don't want something like that out if it is
       not good!

At this point, I have little hope left for this movie. It has
been sitting on the shelf for too long now without any word of a
       possible release date.

well, we have finally have a release date for this one. April
       26th of next year.
It must not be that great. If Fox Searchlight thought it was
good enough they'd put it out in the fall of this year. That's
too bad. On the other hand, I guess it could be worse, like
being dumped in January or February. Still, they obviously don't
       think it's awards worthy.
But maybe Official Secrets will be her better one next year
(that one would probably come out in the fall of 2019)

I've been saying this from the very beginning: there's a
question mark around Aftermath and Colette is her big awards
season vehicle. All the delays with Aftermath was telling. I'd
abandoned that ship a long time ago. I'm hoping an average to
decent film with fine performances a la edge of love. College,
on the other hand, can go all the way. It has great reviews from
Sundance and it has the perfect message for this me too times.
The timing couldn't have been better. The marketing team behind
Colette really have to push this angle. If it's a box office
hit, it has the right message to slip into the best picture
       race.

Not sure about Best Picture with Colette, but the reviews are
good enough for nominations like acting (and perhaps technical
categories) and the subject matter is good and timely.
Again though, what I wish for that one is a slightly better
release date. I wish Bleeker Street would move it like a month
later, to mid or late October. Or mid November. I feel sure it's
going to play in Toronto and/or Telluride, but I feel like
movies that come out in September are usually forgotten these
       days.

Well, I'm not surprised about The Aftermath. I think we could
all see the writing on the wall for that one when there was
silence around the project for so long. When it wasn't shown at
Berliniale, even though it's a German co-production, it became
clear it would be more of a quiet release.
On the other hand, Colette has great reviews so far, as has been
pointed out and she has two more films coming out this year and
it looks like two will be out next year, which is great. I was
afraid that 4 out of 5 of her films would be released this year
       alone, which is too much.
