New Movie: Boston Strangler

Keira is starring in a new movie filming in December!

This one sounds good! I've never been a big fan of her American
accent, tbh, but hopefully she works on it. I don't know what
this means for that sci-fi movie she was talking about either-
didn't she say that was filming later this year? But it was
never officially announced so maybe it fell through.
The only thing that bugs me is that this premise sounds a little
too similar to a movie that was announced called She Said, with
Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan- about the two female journalists
who uncovered the Harvey Weinstein story, and I'm worried that
if they come out at the same time they'll be compared too much.

I saw this on Deadline too. I see what you are saying about the
two journalists but hopefully they are different enough not to
be an issue when they come out. At least the Kazan/Mulligan
movie is already filming so they might not be out at the same
time. I am still convinced that Keira has been filming something
else in London because she has not gone to Tiff and more than
anything her hair are cut short which tells me that she maybe
did it for a part, maybe the Other Typist which is set it the
20's?!

Well, looking at old pictures of Loretta McLaughlin, she's at
least probably keeping it short for that shoot too. (Actually,
Keira looks more like she could be Jean Cole, the other
reporter).

They make similar movies about men every year so I don't see an
issue here. Also, this is a period piece set in Boston, so the
feel and aesthetic will be dramatically different from the more
contemporary and familiar Mulligan movie. I liked Keira's
American accent in The Jacket but Boston speech patterns are
tricky to pull off. Perhaps she can work with a seasoned and
regionally specific dialect coach like the person Winslet used
for Mare of Easttown.

Daily FAIL has pictures of Keira on set. She looks STUNNING. She
is just so radiant in period clothes. Fingers crossed for this
project. It has potential.

I have a good feeling about this one for some reason. I don't
know, maybe it's the cast, and the studio giving me optimism.
The fact it's filming now means it will likely release at this
time next year (if it's delayed past that it means the studio
didn't think it was good enough for a late year release).
I don't know this director and he only has one other film, but
everything else seems to look pretty good.
I admit I thought the same thing about Colette and Official
Secrets (both of which I liked), but they weren't supported as
major releases by their studios, coming out in August. I do
think Colette should have done better- it got good reviews and
was recognized in a couple of places.
Anyway, this one looks like a slightly bigger movie, so
hopefully it turns out good.

Don't know how they filmed these as it snowed 23 inches the day
before!

Imo, this movie will be done in plenty of time to be able to
come out this year- around Nov or Dec. If the studio thinks it's
good enough they'll release it around that time. If not, they'll
hold it for next year.
I really hope it's good. But I don't know anything about this
director and he really only has one previous film, so the
quality is riding on him for the most part. That movie, Crown
Heights was another procedural that got okay-ish reviews,
so...I'm not sure. Hopefully he can step it up for this one, but
it doesn't sound like he's much of a visionary or anything.
Probably depends on how good the script is.
Official Secrets kind of has the same issue. It was solid enough
but the movie just didn't elevate itself to another level.
