       open the window

In line 97 it says, "He went to the window and threw it wide
open. There was not one star in the sky. He went back and sat
down by the table." What is the significance of the author
pointing out that there weren't any stars in the sky?

The reason he said there not one star in the sky is because he
did not know what to do and he was not even concentrating on the
       stars

when it said there was not a star in the sky it was infering
that his world will be dark if he doesnt confess that it was him
because he is letting someones else go to jail for what he did
       bad .

i think Jean threw opened the window, looked as if he was asking
his higher power for help, but he wasnt there. almost as if his
higher power left him to his responsibilites as an adult and
ponder about his decesion. His higher power, left the
       choice...to him.

I think the author pointed that out because he was lokking for
the stars and they were not there just like he was looking for
some idea of what to do and he could find none.

I think the significance is that there is no more ways to get
out of the predicament that he was in. No more ways to get of
the problem and he had to choose one or the other.

the author was pointing out that if he doesn't tell the truth
then his world will be dark. He will also feel bad and guilty if
he doesn't confess and tell the truth.

I think it means by him saying that there's not one star in the
skyi think he's trying to say that if he lets that guy go to
jail for waht he did he would be in a world of sadness ir
       darkness.
