What I think will happen is that jean Val jean will do the right
thing and turn himself in. they will then let the guy go. He
felt guilty about not confessing when he first found out about
the man they assumed was him. He thought about not turning
himself in and letting the man go, but his conscience was
telling him to do the right thing. So when he turns himself in
he will try to escape just like he had done before. He will
succeed in breaking out and he will run away just like the when
he was released from prison and change his name again. Most
likely he will not get caught again

because he says at the end “. He is satisfied, he will leave me
in peace, and he caught his Jean Val jean!” this means that
since Javert told Jean Val jean that he caught “Jean Valjean”
the real Jean Val jean thinks he doesn’t have anything to worry
about. He is wrong though because he was the one that did wrong,
and that innocent man shouldn’t have to suffer for Jean Val
jean. If I was Jean Val jean I would turn myself in because that
is the right thing to do. Jean Val jean thinks they caught this
man; they won’t be after me anymore. I won’t have anything to
worry about. The guilt is what he would have to live with if
that innocent man dies or gets hurt in jail. Val jean just
thinks that this man has just simply bad luck. I know Val Jean
wouldn’t be happy if he had to go back to jail. Is the right
thing to do though. He did the crime, so now he can do the time.

i dont agree with you i think he will turn his self in. cause he
is going tio feel bad for putting the wrong guy is jail. so yeah
i dis agree with you.

I think he is going to confess of steeling all of the silver.
Because he is going to feel bad cause he put the wrong man in
jail. I think he is going to get back in jail and then try to
brake out again. He is going to get out and then run to a
different country so he don’t get in trouble.
I don't think he is going to confess. He can continue hiding
like he has been doing for years while the other guy goes to
jail.

I think that Jean Valjean will not turn himself in because he
has forgiven himself and vowed not to go back to his old self. I
think he'll just stay as M. Madeleine so he won't have to go and
spend the rest of his life in jail because he hated working in
the chain gang. All though, he is feeling guilty for letting
another man go to prison for his actions but i think he'll be
able to move on and forget about the man going to prison.

he caught his Jean Valjean!"

I think he will not turn himself in. I think that he will keep
going because he threw his past life away. He wants to just
forget about everything and hes not scared of being mayor now.
He started a new life. His old life is now behind him. its over
and done. But then i also think that he will turn himself in
because he feels bad about that guy going to jail. but either
way the man going to jail wasent inocient either he stole the
apples and they thought Valjean stole them. Either way he would
of went to jail. but im more leaning towards that he will keep
his mouth shut.

• “Well, then!” he said, “What am I afraid of? Why am I
pondering these things? Now I’m safe. It’s all over. There
was only a single half-open door through which my past could
invade my life; that door is now walled up forever! Line 146

I Think That M. Madeline Is Going To Confess That He Is Jean
Valjean Because He’s Going To Feel Guilty About Putting The
Wrong man In Jail. When He Gets Arrested Though I Think He Is
Going To Try To Break Out Again. Since He Is The Mayor, He Has
The Key To The Jail So He’s Going To Break Out And Try To Hide
By Running To A Different City And Do The Same Thing He Did In
That Montreal Place
He wants to keep himself safe though. Another man can take his
place in prison so why should he bother turning himself in. He
doesn't want to go to prison even though he is the one who
should go. He would rather hide out and let the other man take
his place instead of going back to the place he escaped from.
He isn't going to turn himself in because he doesnt
want to go back to jail. and if someone else already is caught
he isnt going to turn himself in.

I think Jean Valjean will not turn his self in. I think until
someone finds out he is supposed to be in jail he is going to
keep being the mayor and go on with his regular everyday life. I
think it is wrong for him to let someone else go to jail for
his problems and him not just finally turn him self in that way
he looks like a real man and not someone who is scared to admit.
Overall i think he might turn himself in at the end because he
might feel bad for putting the wrong person in jail and not him.

I think M. Madeline fill confess into being Jean Val Jean
becasue he would feel guilty about making this innocent man
serving his time in prision. So I think he will turn himself in.

i dont think Jean Valjean will turn himself in, he wouldn't want
to spend more time in jail. He thinks hes save from this.
Thought it was all over. he thinks hes free. he said javert will
leave him alone. and that he caught Jean Valjean

I think Jean Valjean will let Champmathieu go to prison and take
his place but later on feel guilty and take action. I feel this
way because in the end of the passage it talks about him
questioning himself saying “what should I be afraid of” and
tells him self that he is safe now. Another reason is because he
also says “He began by recognizing that, however extraordinary
and critical the situation was, he was completely the master of
it.” The reason I think he will feel guilty and take action
because the passage said “Jean Valjean would suddenly emerge
from the night and stand before him, the good and worthy citizen
M. Madeleine would come forth more honored, more peaceful, and
more respected than ever.”
