Just to clarify, I did NOT "raid" your base. I just stumbled
upon it and left a couple of presents near the doorway. And I
have no problem with raiding as long as it's clear that the
players involved are not opposed to it.

Perfect example was the situation with Admiral Fatts. He had
only been on the server a short time and was rather quickly
raided by a more established player long before he was prepared
for it and it was extremely frustrating for him.

But that’s exactly my point you didn’t know whose base it was,
you didn’t wait and stalk me for days to find out, you didn’t
destroy anything, or wipe my inventory out. You Raided me
exactly the way I am petitioning for.

@Aknot I agree with your ideas for making the game more
interesting but they don’t work in a multiplayer scenario. If
everyone is not playing by the same rules your just beating
yourself up for no reason. ??? You stated the PvE aspect gets
old. So extend the PvE aspect by changing your play style. You
are not beating yourself up for no reason you are challenging
yourself making the PvE aspect not old. How does anyone else on
the server have an effect on you if you don't use firearms, only
eating white canned food, having no bed, etc?
And it was my understanding that raiding was a constant threat,
Grim didn’t notify me he was coming and we were not at war, and
wouldn’t expect him to tell me he’s coming that’s just defeats
the whole purpose. I said nothing about notifying you of an
attack. What was (I believe it was) agreed was it takes two to
tango and both must agree to dance. After that it is between
those partied to make any conditions of war. Those conditions
could be full scaled PvP or the agreement that fighting only
happens when both parties are on, or only between certain hours.
etc. MM is allowing those that wish to PvP to PvP. However you
have to take into consideration (like any war) their are neutral
entities that must be avoided.
I mean you can have a base safe from zombies in like 5 maybe 10
hours of game play what are you doing after that painting your
walls? The beauty of that is it doesn't matter what I do. I
could rearrange my secure chest placing one 9mm round in each
slot. What you need to realize is it has no affect on you. A
Multiplayer game just means there are multiple players playing
the game. It does not mean I have to interact with anyone. A
smart player will (and I do) but you don't have to.
However open PvP (raiding whatever lets just call a duck a duck
it is PvP) has an effect on everyone on the server. That is not
(from what I understand) the intention of this server hence the
PvPish. Case in point I know if I go to a crate I have a chance
of getting killed or even killing someone. I understand the risk
and when need be I take them. See the option to PvP is there and
not forced on me.
If were not open for raiding than what’s the purpose of even
having Keystone if I have to schedule a secret raid on your base
and give you every opportunity to make it impossible for me.
There is open raiding. When two (or more) parties agree then
they can open raid each other as much as they want. In that same
line what is the sense of you raiding me if I don't setup a
challenge and or defense for you? If I were you I would get
bored and try to find a challenge. MM cant even force me to
create a player proof base. So since you cant really do any
damage nor can you take many items and I wont fight back what's
the challenge?
Aren’t you up for something a little more challenging than a
dead guy? I find the challenge in keeping them out nil. I find
challenges in taking daily treks, building so it doesn't
collapse, helping others, etc. Just because YOU want a challenge
doesn't mean I want the same challenge. So again that is why PvP
zones were made. You can PvP when you want in that zone. That is
why PvP is initiated so you can find like minded adversaries to
PvP against. You make up your own rules with your adversary so
you can be challenged.
So far this server has the best of both worlds. I can 'paint my
walls' all day long and you can PvP with like minded people.
Whats not to like we both get what we want w/o forcing another
player to do something they don't want to do.

True that, lol.
I guess the best way to move forward is to create a poll for the
rest of the community to vote upon the issue.
EDIT: Actually, after giving it a moments more thought, I think
we have already addressed this previously and I really do agree
with Aknot that we have a pretty good balance. The issue now I
believe is that we need a few more people playing and with a
fresh restart I think we can rally together (those of us that
want to PVP/raid) and get some wars a brewing. I'm sure Grim
Town will always be up for the challenge. ;)
If more of the community makes a voice for change then we should
re-address this.

Hey guys, glad to see this is being discussed by more than just
a couple people as I really haven't been sure what sort of PvP
attitude others have. That's why I've abstained from getting
involved in it up to this point (other than sneaking through
designated pvp zones for the thrill of maybe getting shot at).
While Madman's rules are very clear and concise, which I
appreciate, I do think I can see where some clarification of
interpretation of what aggressive behaviors are acceptable or
not may be needed.
I'm going to take Spider's side a little here - I'll play
devil's advocate for a minute. ;)
I think I understand what he wants to do. He likes the thrill of
trying to get into someone's base and leave a little 'calling
card' just to show he did it. He'll take a prize but not wipe
the place out or destroy walls, structure etc. There's
definitely a challenge to doing that with keystone protection
and being able to tell easily when someone's online and offline
so I see where having MORE protection when you're offline is
better - otherwise everyone would just wait until you log off to
attack your base. That encourages unfair gameplay in my opinion.
Now, that being said, I think my summary opinion is: Raiding
should be allowable BUT that's an obvious and outright
declaration of war - so it's a one way street if you choose to
go down it.
My only concern is people who will raid others while offline but
not tell them they did it. Being sneaky is one thing, but being
sneaky when someone's offline just to steal their crap and not
announce war is just lame.
So while I am not a hardcore pvp'r myself and typically try to
avoid it unless I'm involved in a war dispute with my team or
territory, I'm also not going to reject all forms of it (other
than griefing) for others as the server *is* a PvP server. I
like the fairly simple rules that are in place now which allows
for declaring wars or territorial disputes. Raiding can have
it's place within that ruleset too, it just needs defined.

@Lupa
This server is not a PvP server. A PvP server (IMO) denotes that
all players can openly attack other players. This server is a
PvE server with PvP aspects.
The PvP aspects are:
Designated PvP zones. Zones that once you go in you are lawfully
able to engage in PvP.
Random PvP zones. Airdrops. Airdrops are random and in the
immediate area of the drop (or drop area) is open for PvP.
Consensual PvP. When two (or more) parties agree to PvP in some
way shape or form.
Quite honestly if this was a PvP server I would not be here.
MM feel free to correct me If I am incorrect.

I will correct you in so much as Lupa is in fact correct to
state this is a PVP server because I have listed it as a PVP
server. So if that description is not in line with your
interpretation of the word PVP then that discrepancy should be
directed at me. It is listed as a "friendly PVP" server which
in my opinion is a very accurate description of us.
