> I agree also. That is a fine/fair "raiding" statute. Pretty
much how I use to raid on Rust (private server I was on). Others
would wipe the inventory clean. That generates hostility. No
point in making someone "start"over" again. That's what server
wipes are for ;D.
>
> I would think this would be a fine "guide/rule" to add to the
server notes.
>
> "We have raiding on the server and this is the "strongly
suggested" method we try to adhere to".
>
--- End Quote ---
This is already on our server rules listed on the website.
"8. Raiding is permitted ONLY when "War" is declared and
accepted between two parties.
Keep in mind the friendly nature of our server and do not “clean
someone out”. Take a few items and leave the rest. Don’t be a
dick! You may NOT destroy more than is necessary to gain
access. "
I think Raiding and War should be two completely different
things. I don’t think you should be notified that someone will
be trying to get in your base (that should be a given as we are
on a PVP’ish server). That gives the defender way to much of an
advantage. Ok Madman said he’s coming to raid tomorrow I’ll put
25 doors in this hallway, or I’ll lay mines all over my base.
Raiding is also not trying to kill the person. If I’m trying to
raid someone’s base and I see someone come walking up I’m gone.
You gotta think when your raiding you got good stuff in your
belt Chainsaws, pipe bombs, TNT, RPG’s not stuff you really want
to risk losing. For example when Grim raided my base (his prize
was all my doors and a few corn cobs he held for ransom)
and I logged on I caught him and engaged him then a fight
ensued. Now being a good sport grim didn’t loot my bag when he
got the drop on me, but as I was defending I helped myself to a
prize from his bag (my very 1st shiny new 44Magnum) when I got
my retribution from him. So what I’m tryn to say is I think
raiding should be more for breaking and entering for a prize.
War on the other hand is when 2 players or groups say it’s on
like Donkey Kong and shoot on sight is allowed for the warring
parties. While you may negotiate rules on looting back packs
loot should not be the purpose of War death should be the
purpose, how many times you and your team can kill them.
I think the idea is just to say that when two or more parties
declare war, they are leaving themselves open to raiding by
those other players. You will likely never know when that is
going to happen though. This is a friendly PVP server so to that
end a player should be able to build without risk of a raid
unless they so choose to participate. Another great thing about
doing it this way is that is forces you to do more work and
research in order to raid. You must first scout out your enemy
and search out the location of their base. Only once you know
for certain you have located their base will you then be able to
attempt a raid. This also helps eliminate what always happens in
otherwise unregulated PVP servers where the new players and
small groups always get over run and slaughtered by the bigger
groups and more established players. This is my opinion on the
matter and I would be happy to hear more thoughts on this.

So let me get this straight Spider.
You want to at anytime be able to infiltrate my base (or others)
and run off with an item or two. Even though I am not defending
against you, or anyone else. "I don’t think you should be
notified that someone will be trying to get in your base (that
should be a given as we are on a PVP’ish server)."
Since this is a PvPish server I thought we decided that if you
want to PvP/War/Raid/Ninja into someones base or in areas not
designated as PvP you had to let your intentions be known and
have that person agree to it.
Meaning if I am on the server and Bill is on the server Bill can
say 'Hey Aknot I would like to go into War against you.' I have
the opportunity to say yes or no.
If I say Yes that opens my base and myself for attack at anytime
from Bill (and his group if so designated). Obviously I and my
group can reciprocate. This mean if Bill is walking along the
road and im looking in a trash bag on a nearby roof I can snipe
Bill. Even if Bill is engaged fighting zombies I can put a
bullet in his skillet. Of course Bill and I can make a few
rules/agreements about when and where attacks can happen, what
weapons can be used, a kill limit, etc.
This does not mean that because im in a war with Bill I can
PvP/War/Raid/Ninja Lupa. (unless she is part of Bills group)
If I say no to Bills request it means no PvP/War/Raid/Ninja will
happen between Bill and I EXCEPT in the designated PvP areas.
(PvPish server)
Now quite understandable if you are at War with Bill and I come
to your area uninvited/unannounced and get shot its a mistake.
That is why before I approach anyone's place of residence I
announce myself. I respect your right to PvP with Bill and would
not want to cause confusion.
However if you shoot me on the road without identifying your
target you are at fault. I believe someone brought up the idea
of 'hats' for PvP.
As for the Kstone changes (since I do not participate in PvP) I
dont care as it has no bearing on my play-style.
It’s just that the PVE part of this game gets old in like 2
weeks of playing you can have everything, I’m just looking to
keep the game interesting.
There are tons of ways of doing this. Build only with wood.
Forage only at night. Dont use firearms. Use only one of each
item repairing it as needed and if you lose it/destroy it it can
only be replaced by trading. Only used hunted food (Deer, rabbit
etc.) Only use white canned food. No trading. Only can obtain
food by trading. After each death you must stay in the area you
spawned in. No sleeping bag. etc and so forth.
There are a ton of ways of making this game
challenging/fun/different without making the whole server do the
same thing that while may be fun/challenging/new/different to
you is not for others.

@Aknot I agree with your ideas for making the game more
interesting but they don’t work in a multiplayer scenario. If
everyone is not playing by the same rules your just beating
yourself up for no reason. And it was my understanding that
raiding was a constant threat, Grim didn’t notify me he was
coming and we were not at war, and wouldn’t expect him to tell
me he’s coming that’s just defeats the whole purpose. I mean you
can have a base safe from zombies in like 5 maybe 10 hours of
game play what are you doing after that painting your walls?
Soon as I’m safe and have a place to craft every ounce of effort
goes into player defenses pits, traps, false doors /hallways,
hidden rooms, hidden chest. We are a password protected server
there are no giffers here, If were not open for raiding than
what’s the purpose of even having Keystone if I have to schedule
a secret raid on your base and give you every opportunity to
make it impossible for me. And until we can make signs how am I
supposed to know whose base is whose unless you’re in my allies
and then I’m not trying to raid you. I completely agree with the
War rules you should have to agree and set rules for engagement,
but if we’re are not allowed to attempt secret raids what’s the
point to being on a PVP server but to wave at you as I chop a
tree down that sound more like PVE. Also just to make it clear
raiding does not involve killing anyone unless the base owner
kills the raider, it does not involve destroying anyone base at
most 2 blocks need to be removed so you can walk in or a door
all of which are very easily replaced in seconds. As someone
who’s been raided a few times let me tell you nothing is better
than logging on and finding green book bags laying in your pits
or on your floor and knowing that you outsmarted a player
without even being on line. This is partly a tower defense game
and you can’t have a defense unless something’s trying to get in
and let’s face it the zombies are dumb as rocks. Aren’t you up
for something a little more challenging than a dead guy?

Also, we do have designated PVP areas and airdrops are random
PVP areas so technically we are still a PVP server. If we go
through with the server wipe we will have many more PVP areas
with the new custom prefabs.

I also feel that once players are somewhat established,
alliances made and battle lines drawn, we are naturally going to
evolve into a state of large scale war. Eventually, I see there
only being two or three factions battling it out for supremacy.

Want to make sure everyone knows that I’m not trying to come
steal all your shit but test your tactical mind and building
prowess. I want to see if I can crack you code, break your lock,
figure out your maze and most importantly I want you to try and

return it something like that get creative with it). I’m not
building this elaborate deadly base just to look at it, I want
to use it.
@ Madman- I read it, but how do you suggest I track people down
to their base you must be within 5 ft. before you can even see
who you are following. I don’t want to backstab people act like
their friend then come back after they log. Also if there is no
threat of raiding then when you tell me you want to raid me I
know you are coming and raiding would be impossible. Ex: Madman
said he would like to raid my base so before I log off every
night I’ll put all my mines out all over my floor in my base.
I’m in no way talking about pvp I don’t want to kill you, I

never know I was there till I’m gone.

Hay Madman wait a minute. You raided my base without
notification you didn’t take anything but you left mines
for me and I died several times, very hilariously I might add.
That’s the type of raiding I’m talking about! Grimm
didn’t do anything but break my doors and take a peace of
corn. I’m not talking about PVP I’m talking about
PVB player vs base.

I appreciate your points, really I do. I just don't think it's
fair for new players or those that are more interested in other
aspects of the game to have to constantly be worried about
logging in to find their doors missing and their furniture on
the lawn, lol. Yes, it would be VERY difficult to figure out
where your enemies base is located but that alone just makes it
more challenging and potentially more rewarding when you do
figure it out and can make a successful raid. Just my opinion of
course.
