       Perfecting PVP Specs
   DIR By: Spider

I’d like to start a conversation about changing the land claim
values of the Keystone after the next reset.
I’d like to suggest raising the land claim size to 30x30 and
lowering the off line protection to x16 and the online
protection to x8. First the claim size I don’t think any of us
are building little tinny 20x20 bases and if we upped the land
size the recipe for Keystones could be changed back to tungsten
(I really think KS should be the hardest thing in game to
build). Also I’m not sure if any of you have tried to destroy a
door with land claim on it, it’s near impossible. I used 6 cans
of gas in a chainsaw and a hour’s worth of chopping with a axe
on a fully upgraded wooden door and it only went down 1 level
(the metal fell off). Now I’m all for protecting my stuff but I
think your building design, traps and creativeness should be
your biggest defense not just a magic block that makes
everything invulnerable. I don’t think we should be able to
pound on a door for 5 min and it crumble but I think an hour to
down grade a door 1 time is a little much. I don’t know about
you but I don’t use just 1 door in my base some place have
several doors right after each other. O and my thoughts on the
difference in online and offline is if your online you should be
defending your base more than your KS and when you are offline
you should have extra protection(this would also give an
incentive to raid when people are online and not wait for them
to log off). After playing with yall for little while now I
don’t think we have to worry about anyone just trying to ruin
someone’s day and be a dick so a little fine tuning on the pvp
specs might give us more of a reason to keep building, and to
build differently. So what do ya’ll think?

My question is: How much are players on this server intending to
'raid' other bases in the first place?
If the answer is 'a lot' because that's the game playstyle
you're all hoping for as a focus, then I don't really see how
this change would make that more fun - it just means when I'm
online I have to stay around to defend my base more because open
       attacks are more likely
If, however, the main focus is to remain on PvP in contested
zones with raiding or destroying someone's base reserved for war
declarations or territory disputes, then this change wouldn't
really effect most players and gives a bonus to protection when
offline if I'm reading that right.
Granted I haven't been ingame this past week much (been away on
a work trip) so I don't know if you guys are having ingame wars
more than you were before or not to know if this change is
       needed.
I don't really like destroying others work - even if they were
to be my enemy, so lowering keystone protection is a sensitive
issue. If I were to actually join players who want to war with
others then it might start to make more sense to me.
Unfortunately wipes are happening a bit too frequently right now
with new builds of the game to make really 'permanent' bases not
worth the effort for me to have a strong opinion about how much
       protection the keystone gives.

No one wants to destroy people’s base that’s not what raiding
is. Raiding is trying to get into someone’s base with the least
effort possible. Here’s an example of what I’ve done. Find a
weak spot or door and break in, find any chest and unlock them
and have a look. I usually pick 1 or 2 items as a prize (I try
not to take something there is only one of and if I’m taking
supplies ill only take half of whatever supplies I’m taking so
if you have 1 stack of 64 lead than I’ll take 32 and be on my
way). But the most important and fun thing I do when raiding is
leave my mark. This can be done in many ways from rearranging
your furniture to spell my name or something, upgrading a
section of wall blocks to spell something, or if possible
leaving behind little presents wherever I can. The purpose of
raiding isn’t to destroy someone’s base (its best to do as
little work as possible) but testing their base design and your
knowledge of the game. It’s all in fun and if I take a prize
that someone would like back then I’m open to negations a
tribute to be paid to me for its safe return. It’s just that the
PVE part of this game gets old in like 2 weeks of playing you
can have everything, I’m just looking to keep the game
       interesting.

I agree also. That is a fine/fair "raiding" statute. Pretty much
how I use to raid on Rust (private server I was on). Others
would wipe the inventory clean. That generates hostility. No
point in making someone "start"over" again. That's what server
       wipes are for ;D.
I would think this would be a fine "guide/rule" to add to the
       server notes.
"We have raiding on the server and this is the "strongly
suggested" method we try to adhere to".

This is already on our server rules listed on the website.
"8. Raiding is permitted ONLY when "War" is declared and
       accepted between two parties.
Keep in mind the friendly nature of our server and do not “clean
someone out”. Take a few items and leave the rest. Don’t be a
dick! You may NOT destroy more than is necessary to gain
       access. "

I think Raiding and War should be two completely different
things. I don’t think you should be notified that someone will
be trying to get in your base (that should be a given as we are
on a PVP’ish server). That gives the defender way to much of an
advantage. Ok Madman said he’s coming to raid tomorrow I’ll put
25 doors in this hallway, or I’ll lay mines all over my base.
Raiding is also not trying to kill the person. If I’m trying to
raid someone’s base and I see someone come walking up I’m gone.
You gotta think when your raiding you got good stuff in your
belt Chainsaws, pipe bombs, TNT, RPG’s not stuff you really want
to risk losing. For example when Grim raided my base (his prize
was all my doors and a few corn cobs he held for ransom)
and I logged on I caught him and engaged him then a fight
ensued. Now being a good sport grim didn’t loot my bag when he
got the drop on me, but as I was defending I helped myself to a
prize from his bag (my very 1st shiny new 44Magnum) when I got
my retribution from him. So what I’m tryn to say is I think
raiding should be more for breaking and entering for a prize.
War on the other hand is when 2 players or groups say it’s on
like Donkey Kong and shoot on sight is allowed for the warring
parties. While you may negotiate rules on looting back packs
loot should not be the purpose of War death should be the
purpose, how many times you and your team can kill them.
