You cannot have a base in the north if you raid. You cannot use
anyone else to store them for you.
If I find someone taking advantage or trying to find a a
loophole they will be banned as well as their accomplice.

I'm not sure what you were referring to because I'm pretty sure
you still want me to move my base so I don't have one in the
North and one in the South. Instead that will make 2 in the
South. Then I'd be able to go on raids even though I'll probably
choose not to and people can raid me, which they can feel free
to IF THEY DARE. Which I assume is right. I'm not trying to make
trouble, I was just trying to understand how it works.

Nobody thinks you are trying to make trouble. It sounds as
though you now understand what the rules are. It's always better
to ask if you are uncertain. Enjoy your gameplay! ;D

Maybe Taylor has it figured out now but I'm a bit confused...
Just asking for clarification now, as so far this seed I have
only played in the north.
If the purpose for not allowing players who raid in the South to
have a base in the North is to prevent flow of materials from
raided to unraidable territory, what is the purpose of not
allowing players to have bases both North and South, if those
players do not raid or intend to raid?
The main legitimate reasons I could think of for this (other
players may have other reasons) would be if a player wanted the
risk of living and thriving in the south, but also wanted the
opportunity to build a pve-style base for 7 day hordes or for
purely cosmetic purposes in the North (whereas in the South such
a base would probably be too vulnerable for most peoples'
tastes).
At the same time, my personal feeling (even if the rules differ
on this, please clarify) is that I wouldn't feel good about
roaming south and taking either fresh loot or toolbar loot of
another player and then carrying that back to a safe base in the
North, even if no PVP raiding took place.

Honestly, as admins it is too difficult to moderate without this
rule set. We tried it the other way in the past and had issues.
If you decide mid-game that you want to switch from north to
south or vice versa, you can always abandon your current base
and set up another one in the new area. Just be sure to remove
any claim stones prior to leaving your old base.

Yes those parts of the rules are clear Midnight - the question
was about multiple bases, which I think Madman has clarified the
purpose of now - thank you.
edit: to be exhaustively clear:
NORTH
-No Kill other players
-No Claim special POIs
-No building a base if you have a base in the South (unless you
abandon that base)
South
-Kill anything you like
-Build anything you like (unless you have a base in the North)
-Claim anything you like (unless you have a base in the North)
-Raid player bases (Must live in south)

I think Midnight was just trying to make the point that due to
less restrictions, having a base in the south might be more fun
for some players. ;)

Oh no doubt - I have typically played in the south on this
server, this is my first real run in the north, wanted to get
re-acquainted with all the changes since I last played a full
game :)

You can have a base in the North and then go south for a day
looking to fight players. You can only raid if you live in the
south though.

You are 100% correct! ;D

This is how I usually roll. 'Pinging' somebody's vault door or
walls for three hours bores me, and I dislike losing gear
because I went on a business trip for a week--so neither side of
the raiding equation suites my playstyle. So sometimes I'll
nomad into the South and see if there are any players to hunt.
Definitely puts the Northerner-going-south at a tactical
disadvantage, but there is fun in that too.
