       > The majority of players on the server "know" when someone has
claimed a prefab. As soon as an upgraded door shows up, building
design is changed, land claim block is placed, etc - it is
obvious. Since we only live in one building and in some cases
there are dozens of other buildings in the town, who has the
NEED to search the three or four possible loot containers in ONE
house. We can tell it is claimed, it's only one house, move on
and check the other 20 or so houses out. Even if other people
have claimed prefabs there, there certainly isn't more than a
handful of them claiming prefabs. There is no survival need to
break into the claimed prefabs. There are plenty more buildings
in that town. As far as "This would also open up the POI's near
ground zero for the new people', again having this small handful
of buildings not be claimed and thus be made available, is NOT
going to turn the tide of survival around for any player, new or
not. Again, not attacking DZ's words, they were just well
expressed words that fuel the debate.

I agree also that either way you are going to get people that
just want to watch the world burn :( . However, some people
will be bitter about things like shotgun messiahs and working
stiffs being claimed and be "inspired" to be a dink. I believe
it was Aknot that said someone broke into his shop and destroyed
all the containers. That sounds like spite to me (and I'm just
using that as an example Aknot, it's not meant to be
argumentative). Of course it may happen anyways but if you
don't have a prefab base you don't have to worry about it being
       messed with.
Also having no prefab claiming is much easier to enforce. I
know we are mostly a mature group of gamers that will honour the
intention of the rules instead of arguing about the letter of
them. However, rules will still need enforcement otherwise they
have no bite. The rule as it is, is almost impossible to
enforce unless you can catch someone in the act of griefing. If
no one were allowed to claim prefabs then that's pretty easy to
enforce. As mentioned by Silens, it is very easy to tell when
someone has claimed a prefab. In fact, it may not even need a
heavy hand from Admins in terms of enforcement. If it is
against the rules and someone claims a prefab, they will most
definitely not report it when someone breaks in for loot. It
       almost enforces itself :) .
In my post as well Silens, I wasn't saying that new people
absolutely need those POI's to survive, but it is going to be
extremely discouraging to new players when they learn they have
to run a distance that takes multiple in game days to cover just
to get to an area that has lootable working stiffs and the like.
If the POI's nearest to Ground Zero are open for loot it will
enhance the experience of the noobs and IMO they will be more
likely to stick around and contribute to the community in a
       positive fashion.
And just for some clarification, I had heard from someone that
claiming random prefabs all over the world is a no-no and that
any claimed prefab had to be a part of your main base. Is this
       true?

This should actually be a thing lol. I would definitely settle
any disputes I might have with other players in this awesome
       fashion. 8)

Question: I have a base in the North and in the South. I
understand that I can not raid: which is fine with me as I don't
enjoy the raiding experience anyhow... but I do like to engage
in PVP which is why I'm settling there. I can still go out of my
PVP base and kill other players right? I'm just barred from
breaking into bases; is that correct? Also I can defend myself
and my claim from other people who are raiders and it wouldn't
count as me being in a raid correct? I mainly just use the North
base for easy access to 0,0 and holding my stuff that I got
while exploring the North. Is this fine?

Anyone can kill others in the South no matter where you live.
You can have a base in the North and then go south for a day
looking to fight players. You can only raid if you live in the
       south though.

You cannot have a base in both the north and south. This is
addressed in the rules. Choose one.

I'm getting mixed signals here even from Admins. I'm just going
to move my base in the north 100 steps to the South so it's past
       ground zero.

*Edit* I see what I wasn't understanding now. A PVE player is
allowed to go PVPing but can't build a base there. A PVPer can
go PVEing but can't build a base in the North. I understand it
now. I'm not far into PVE territory anyhow so I'll move the
base. Sorry if I confused anyone else, the wording befuddled me
       but I get it now.

       Unnecessary.
The reason for the rule is players would raid PvP bases and then
store the goods in the north. This prevented the raided from
       being able to raid back.
       It was deemed lame.
So you either raid or you don't.

I think you misunderstand me as well: ou said it unnecessary,
I'm not sure what you were referring to because I'm pretty sure
you still want me to move my base so I don't have one in the
North and one in the South. Instead that will make 2 in the
South. Then I'd be able to go on raids even though I'll probably
choose not to and people can raid me, which they can feel free
to IF THEY DARE. Which I assume is right. I'm not trying to make
trouble, I was just trying to understand how it works.
