Raiding Rules Clarification! (PvP vs PvE)
DIR By: Madman
Date: April 25, 2015, 12:19 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Due to some recent complications, He are some clarifications to
the rules.
This is to be a clarification concerning "raiding" in the PvP
zone as it relates to the North/South dynamic.
If you have a base in the PvE/North side, you are not to engage
in raiding south of 0,0. This includes but is not limited to:
Taking part in any raid in any capacity.
Going into another player's base without permission.
Looting player containers—it does not matter that you did not
break into them, or the base was broken into.
Providing covering fire for a raid—you are still engaged in
raiding.
Acting as a lookout—same as above.
Spying in Teamspeak—Teamspeak is available so players can
communicate more easily as it relates to in-game activities as
well as general camaraderie. Not so you can listen in and tell
the raider what is going on.
Acting as a fence—it is ok to trade from North to South, but it
is not ok to simply hold items or move items for a raider. This
includes setting up chests at 1N, or a location just north of
the border.
Note: the rules apply to PvP as well as PvE players. PvP players
cannot raid in the south, and "store" goods in the North. You
can still trade your ill-gotten goods, but no storing them North
so no one can raid you back.
Semantics are not smiled upon, but asking for clarification or
rules to cover gray area is fine; there is nothing wrong with
discussion.
The idea is to have as few rules as possible, and honor the
intent. Please do not seek loopholes to exploit thereby ignoring
the intent of a rule/server dynamic purposefully and willfully.
Do not be afraid to ask questions.

So if a place is setup.... and lets not pretend we are stupid
people... if a place is setup as a base and you know it is a
base the assumption is you are not allowed in it without
permission.
Now since we are not pretending to be stupid you know im not
talking just about a prefab with a door on it. That "rule" above
covers it quite clear. If it aint your base and you aint been
invited don't go in.
Ohh but Aknot I didnt know it was a base.... again we are not
pretending to be stupid.
At least that is the way I read that.
Is that incorrect? Then you add the claim block but if this rule
is in effect then you dont need the claim block rule.
Meh I warned you that this would happen... Jackwagons taking
over high priority prefabs, Jackwagons crossing back and forth
across the borders willy nilly. Jack wagons just being jack
wagons stealing farms, destroying prefab stuff....
Now we are getting rules with subsets of rules that people are
still circumventing and ignoring.
Just an observation.

If it is player-made, no messing with, it is claimed regardless
of the block.
if it is prefab, it must have a land claim to be claimed. Unless
it is a POI listed as those PvE players cannot claim in PvE
areas.
Land claims can help avoid misunderstandings on the PvE side.
The intent of the rules is to protect the spirit of the rules.

Agreed, and while we're on it, maybe people shouldn't be able to
wall off any part of or entire POI's in the north at all.
Maybe people should be restricted to player made bases. If no
one can claim a prefab then no one has to worry about other
players breaking into their prefabs. This would also open up
the POI's near ground zero for the new people. And there would
be no excuse for breaking into a base as they would ALL be
player made and involve no prefabs what-so-ever.
There would be no need for further clarification of the rules
either. I know you guys say follow the rules according to the
intent of the rule but there are people trying to circumvent
rules already. It will continue to happen. If you deny claims
to prefabs though you don't need this rule or any of it's
variants or clarifications. Straight forward, do not claim
prefabs at all. Makes it easy.

I don't see a problem with how the rules are now. I do
understand there has been some confusion and maybe some
intentional issues but the rules are quite simple. Don't touch
anything land claimed and don't touch anything player made. I
don't even see any issue with walling in a whole city in. I will
never have the Manpower, time or resources to do such a thing
but I found a way around that. I traveled so far out that no one
has even touched my town but me. Towns are pretty easy to find.

Yes and I agree Alton however there appear to be asshats out
there that cant have fun unless it is at the expense of others.
I thought this issue was resolved with the map split you want to
be chaotic and live in a lawless world you can go to the PvP
side and be with like minded people.
You want to generally build, modify and live peacefully (except
for those non peaceful undead things) you go to the PvE side.
Yet as stated earlier some people here just cant leave well
enough alone.
Again it appears the (some?) PvE people still have to go far out
and live like hermits to avoid asshats.

Well, I have no issue with building my own base (PVE North
player), but I do not see see the need to disallow taking over a
town or part of town.
See my reply in the New PVE Rule post which simply explains how
it can be done, without restricting ANY other player access to
said town.
And once you are in that town....stay off our damn lawns and
leave our claimed pre-fabs alone. 8)

I am NOT calling out Disguised Zombie - it's just the words used
best describe the "situation".
The majority of players on the server "know" when someone has
claimed a prefab. As soon as an upgraded door shows up, building
design is changed, land claim block is placed, etc - it is
obvious. Since we only live in one building and in some cases
there are dozens of other buildings in the town, who has the
NEED to search the three or four possible loot containers in ONE
house. We can tell it is claimed, it's only one house, move on
and check the other 20 or so houses out. Even if other people
have claimed prefabs there, there certainly isn't more than a
handful of them claiming prefabs. There is no survival need to
break into the claimed prefabs. There are plenty more buildings
in that town. As far as "This would also open up the POI's near
ground zero for the new people', again having this small handful
of buildings not be claimed and thus be made available, is NOT
going to turn the tide of survival around for any player, new or
not. Again, not attacking DZ's words, they were just well
expressed words that fuel the debate.
Now of course, claimed prefab or player made will never be safe
from the "asshats and jack-wagons" as Aknot astutely pointed out
(....and now I HAVE to go search for that commercial (Geico?)
for the jack-wagon reference).
This discussion will never reach those types of people.

The answer to all disagreements can be solved by a bow and arrow
duel, with 20 hornets and zombie cops unloaded.
