The Tradin' Post
DIR By: poppawolf
Date: January 21, 2015, 11:08 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Howdy to everyone! Well, by now you may or may not have heard
about Poppa's plans for the upcoming and inevitable reboot, but
I guess now is a good a time as any to let everyone know.
Poppawolf has become known a trader-of-sorts - and being an
incurable pack-rat, he tends to acquire a lot of extra
stuff...and usually has no problem getting folks what they need.
So, keeping that in mind, Poppawolf - along with the assistance
of Darth Trader (f.k.a. Aequitas) - will be starting up a
trading post which will be called The Tradin' Post. (Okay, so
I'm not much on fancy names, huh?) Our goal is to have a place
where one can come and trade extra goods they may have for goods
they are running short on. We are also an "equal opportunity
trader" and will be happy to trade with those in the south as
well as those in the north. Additionally, courier service will
be offered to both sides...and yeah, we know there are some
certain risks to that, but those are risks we are willing to
take.
Okay, and now for a little Q&A section that (hopefully) will
answer any questions you might have about this endeavor....and
if you have any further questions regarding the Tradin' Post,
well feel free to ask them here.
1. Where will the Tradin' Post be located?
Well, now...Poppa's not so sprightly as he used to be (and can
usually be found with a broken or sprained leg most of the time)
- and that fact, combined with wanting to provide a safe place
for all to trade, the Tradin' Post will be located on the north
half of the map....and even though Darth will be doing a lot of
the legwork (since he doesn't break his leg as often) that
doesn't mean Poppa won't be out scavenging or making deliveries,
too. Both Poppa and Darth will be sharing the workload, it's
just that Poppa will be more the storekeeper and Darth more the
stocker/supplier. For example, you will more than likely find
Poppa at the post forging and crafting, while Darth is out
collecting goods for our customers. We are going to try to set
up in a "green" biome of some sort north of and as close as
possible to GZ city, and the exact location will be revealed
when the time comes.
2. When will the Tradin' Post be open for business?
Now that is always a good question. Come the next server wipe,
we are all going to be starting from scratch, aren't we?
Obviously the Tradin' Post won't be able to be in business on
day one. We all are going to wake up in the woods with nothing
on but our underwear, holding a can of chili and a torch (just
like that one party I went to in 1978), so it will take Darth
and a few days to get ourselves in order, a building built, and
the business started. Look for an announcement here on the
forums once we get established, and we will let everyone know we
are ready to trade. (On a side note - we will NOT be acquiring
much "extra stuff" in the first few days/weeks of the reboot.
Clothes, books, armor, etc .,that we do not need personally will
be left behind for other players to find (with the exception of
crates, since they go "poof" once they are opened). Once we are
well into the reboot, however, our hopes are to provide for new
players just joining and may have difficulty - depending on
their timing - in finding "necessities" due to previous looting
by other players.)
3. Will the Tradin' Post be located in Woodbury?
I'd like to start by saying I have no problems with the fine
folks at Woodbury....but Poppa likes being a lone wolf of sorts
and being out on his own. Poppa's a little rougher than most
folk and would rather spend his time making stuff and scavenging
than planting flowers and mowing grass. Eh, you might find a
little trash here and there around Poppa's place, but hey - the
way I figure it - you come to me to trade, not to admire the
scenery. So we won't be in some fancy building - just enough to
get the job done. I will be more than happy to trade with (and
even come visit) Woodbury, but it's not the kind of place you
would find the rough-around-the-edges old man like me taking up
residency.
4. How will you handle trading amongst the clans?
Well, now, it's pretty well known that even though I am not
"technically" a member of OBEY, I am allied with that clan, and
yes, I plan to provide them with supplies. (I do have a private
agreement with the mayor of Woodbury which I will honor - and
since the key word here is "private" I feel no need to go into
further detail - so don't ask! We know the details and that is
all that matters). Does that mean I will not provide supplies
for other clans? Of course not! Not only is that not fair, but
it makes bad business sense. The only stipulation I can see that
will come into play is the fact that material orders for OBEY
will come first and foremost before material orders from any
other clan. For example, let's say I get an order for 200 iron
ingots from a member of OBEY and a rival clan member at the same
time, but I only have 250 in stock - then OBEY's requisition
would be filled first, and the other clan would either have to
1) accept a shortened order, 2) wait for me to restock or 3)
find/trade the materials somewhere else. Also, we don't just
trade with clans - we trade with anyone who wants to trade,
whether affiliated with a clan or not.
5. How will the actual trading take place?
Trading will be a non-formal affair, of course, and all players
need to do is let me know on global chat that you would like to
trade. We would then move our conversation to either TS or Steam
chat so as not to spam the global chat with our transaction.
6. You mentioned a "courier service". Does that mean you will
make deliveries? To everyone?
Of course we will make deliveries! If you are busy building,
crafting or doing something where you can't tear yourself away
from your home base, Darth and I would be more than happy to
make arrangements to deliver to your base (or the "meeting
place" of your choosing)....and yes, as previously mentioned, we
are an equal opportunity trading organization, so we will be
offering the courier service to both sides of the map.
Well, that is about it for now, I suppose. Now, before anyone
gets their skivvies in knots about playing both sides of the
map, please be aware that this idea was run past "the great
Server" and got both approval and encouragement.
As stated, I'd be happy to field any questions anyone might
have, but I have to warn you that some answers may be "I don't
know" or "Not sure yet", as this is a "work in progress" of
sorts, and Darth and myself will be playing some things "by
ear", and will just have to see how some aspects develop.
Hope to be doing business with y'all soon!

Greetings Survivors!
Darth Trader here! I would like to again introduce myself and
say that so far I am loving this server and the people that
attempt to populate it. I've enjoyed meeting and talking with
you guys and look forward to more dealings.
To piggyback on what PoppaWolf was saying.
We are looking to promote BOTH the PvP and PvE portions of the
split map and hope to get whatever/whichever supplies you need!
We are currently working on an exchange system that will be fair
for both parties involved, so excuse the mess.
THAT ALL BEING SAID:
We expect that we will be met with some difficulties on the
road. We will be handling that accordingly.
We expect that everyone will need something at the beginning of
the new wipe, we will do our best to assist in the rebuilding of
your homes/hunting/scavenging in the supplying capacity while we
still do these things ourselves.
Personally, I will be PvPing while I am not scavenging. Don't
worry, I'm not very good. You have nothing to fear. You didn't
see that contract. *waves hand*
I plan on helping all/any factions/towns that need the
assistance, but that list is written on sand at low tide. For
me, the wipe is exactly that. I will not harbor any ill will
towards any opposing player/faction until shit starts to get out
of hand.
Also, I am Darth Trader. I am trying to get Poppa to accept
"The Death Store" as a name for the Tradin' Post. (Don't let him
fool you, he's the same age as the Star Wars films.) But I
think he will be reluctant to the change.
Thanks for reading and may the fallout be with you!

I happen to be the same age as the Star Wars films. Anyone know
what year without having to look it up??

What about pricing? Will you be providing a price list on the
forums? Or will it be like a barter thing?
;)

That damn accountant I hired to come up with the price list was
a no-show on her first day on the job! *sigh* I swear, it is so
hard to find good help sometimes. ;)
And I would be more than happy to accept bottlecaps in exchange
for goods if I could transfer them over to my Fallout games, but
alas, until that happens, it looks like I am stuck with
bartering.
Seriously, though - if you folks over in Woodbury need anything
that I can help with, feel free to give me a holler. (Maybe I
can trade something for a new accountant!) :D
