Finally got to check out the screens. Looks like a very suitable
place. Large enough, but not so large that it will take forever
to "enclose"..
As far as mining goes, I almost never mine for myself. Dig here
and there, but I generally scavenge all I need as I live
minimally. That is not to say I won't mine outside for the
development of the community though. Just no need for concern of
my "personal" mining.
A "1.6" distance seems fine. "5.5" seems too far, in the sense
that I assume the "server" in general does not build that far
out in great numbers. But what do I know. In the current world I
am just now leaving my Space Invader house behind out in 7.7
land and moving to 2.3 land. But I'll be damned, I have not seen
even ONE base in all my travels out to 7.7 and all points in
between. Wanted to move back "near" GZ to see if I could
actually find.....anyone.
Absolutely love the artwork up above.
The before and after photos are cool as well. I can see that
sense of pride rounding the corner now in our little town.
Really looking forward to this. A very nice way to keep the game
interesting - at least for us "like-minded" folk.
It should also prove to be a useful place for those braving the
wilds too.

*whispers* Pssst - Aknot! You forgot to mow the grass before
taking the 'after' shot! ;D (jk! I can't help but remember that
HOA president lady from the movie "Over the Hedge"...and yes, i
am sure you will not be that strict) but still....quarter inch
grass remember! lol ;D

As an FYI I stole those pics and modified GZ and the such onto
them removing in most cases Georgia. :D
@Silen, as stated so far you have been to only one to express
interest in 'where' with regards to biome. Im hinking of just
splitting that area into equal sizes and allow people to do what
they want with their plot (still first choices go into effect)
reserve the space directly behind then across the street as
farm.
@poppa well I got to give the people what they want. However the
quarter inch rule may come into effect based on the way crawlers
can hide.... hmmmmmmm

In light of certain information I have obtained from the great
Server I need to add an unchangeable rule.....
Woodbury is slated to be a peaceful community. Woodbury can only
succeed if we can all trust each other and work together. While
I understand we may support friends and loved ones in the South
and we may have different opinions I need to make sure we all
can trust one another. With that said:
If you are going to have a base of operations in the South you
are not welcomed to live in Woodbury. The distrust this would
bring is too great and would tear the community apart.
There was a Woodbury in Georgia that had this same issue. The
Governor allowed outsiders in, ones that did not carry the same
beliefs as they did. Woodbury Georgia ended up destroyed. A once
peaceful community became overrun with walkers not to mention
community members turning on community members.
I will not allow Woodbury GroundZero to befall that same fate.
If you do not agree I understand. You may at this time exclude
yourself from the community with no hard feelings.

I don't see how you can exclude someone from living in PVE side
at the same time as PVP. If you're PVE you can't kill them to
remove them, and if they abide by the rules inside the PVE zone,
what is the deal? I think this will only serve to be further
divisive. Think of it like Mad Max...inside they're all working
in harmony, but once out in the wastes...

Well that's the whole point of this 'split' anyway. You either
want PvP or you don't. To 'allow' a known PvPer into a nonPvP
community is counterproductive of the community.
It also brings up the thought that may run through peoples heads
that hey.... is he/she using that iron for the defense of our
nonPvP community or are they taking what I as a nonPvPer have
worked for and going to the PvP side with it.
Im not saying they cant live in the PvE zone.. that is a server
thing I have no control over. I don't like it but I will have to
live with it.
I mean if you as a PvPer come over to the non PvP side I have no
way of stopping you from looting a POI. Loot you may take over
to the PvP side cause it is just safer to gather on the PvE
side. (not you you just you as a PvPer in general)
Again the PvPer is (IMO) pussing out by coming to the PvE side
to loot.
As you state I got no idea how I could keep a PvPer from
entering Woodbury.... Kind of throws a monkey wrench into the
whole plan.

Just an opinion of a non PVPer who chooses to live amongst the
PVPers for the added challenge because I get bored when I make
zombie proof bases.
I do not understand why instead of the whole PVP and Non PVP
north and south why not do a completely walled in community,
Woodbury, using rules already set in place, stop signs, to keep
PVPers out. The non PVPers would have the code to the door to
get in the front gate and not the PVPers. I would agree that who
ever lived inside of that walled in city should not be allowed
to removed resources from the city, small exceptions being
hunting and such. Building a zombie proof wall I would not think
would be that hard, not sure how that many people living in a
small area would effect my current method of zombie proofing,
but that would also be part of people living there, maintaining
and repairing the wall and the outside defenses. If you had a
problem with PVPers breaking rules then you could land claim the
wall and everyone there might have to be friends... but if
PVPers don't follow rules then you will have problems anyhow.
Just a thought. Won't effect me either way as I'll always pick
PVP for the challenge of being hunted or raided, even if I don't
hunt or raid others, as a rule.

Because now you have segregated ALL nonPvPers. All nonPvPers may
not want to participate in a walled community. In splitting the
map you in essence create two servers. You have one side that is
PvP and one side that is PvE. The complete map itself to the
best of my knowledge is infinite. Neither side gets more. It is
equal.

If each group (within reason) stays on their side there is no
chance of that happening. Also tracking issues of this nature
just became a lot easier for the server.

Thoughts ideas and suggestions are always welcomed. Touching on
your 'challenge' comment. There really is no challenge when you
can be sniped while picking blue berries. There is no challenge
when your base is raided while you are offline for a day or two.
There are other things that people do that take the challenge
out of the game for them essentially exploiting the system to
their advantage.
What people call PvP in this game is not PvP. There is no Player
versus another Player (or groups of) its hey I can kill this
person and they would never see it coming, should I?
A player just last night called someone out on a dick move. They
were building in or around GZ. Just minding their own business
laying frames and POW. Now did the one player sneak up and beat
them with a club or did they snipe them from a distance never
giving that person a chance at versus? (im not defending the
builder. The shooter was well within the rules of the server)
That is most of the time what PvP is in this game. That is not
PvP imo.
My overall question would be what is wrong with keeping PvPers
on one side and PvErs on the other? There has been no valid
reason. You give two groups of people what they want within the
same server. Everyone has access to the same resources. Everyone
is free to do what they want (within reason) with like minded
people on their side.
Maybe if there was a warning system (much like the Hunted thing
for zombies) that you were close to another I could see a versus
thing. Unless the person (hunter) was crouched or something. As
it is now the hunted has no chance.
PvP is just not done very well by the game at this time. Even
the Kstones you mention were initially created to prevent
griefing. Once it has a viable PvP system I will most likely
become PvP. See its not that I don't like PvP it is just quite
honestly it sucks in this game at this time.

Hey Aknot,
I made a little trip 1k north of GZ, but did not find the future
Woodbury - only a lake. ;D
Did I misinterpret where you stated it was? (Of course knowing
it may not be exactly here or the "same" next go-round)
I also concur with no resident of Woodbury moonlighting as a
Southern PVPer.
If you want to run the town that way, it does not impede on any
other players method of playing the game THEIR way. They can
just play it not in Woodbury. Lets face it folks - this is a
game and Aknot is just creating one little spot for like minded
people to try out another way of keeping the game "interesting".
As far as the North/South split. It would take "honor" for the
PVPers to stay where they have denoted THEY want to belong. -
In. The. South.
The PVEers. Stay the F in the North.
That is the simple point of the map split. (Want to set up a
trade enterprise between sides at the border? - cool. Yet
another way for people to keep the game interesting for
themselves. But as a resident, you would forfeit that scenario.
But for a PVEer and a PVPer meeting for a trade, sure - why not.
While the PVEer should NOT ambush the PVPer (you chose PVE,
remember?) - the opposite is certainly a possibilty. One the
PVEer cannot cry about if it happens. You took the chance. But
again, 99.9% of our players are cool and not out for that type
of gameplay)
Yell all your opinions from the highest mountain as to why one
side is more stupid than the other. If you "occasionally" like
the challenge and excitement of PVP, well, live in the South.
That is where it will "occasionally" happen. Not the North.
As stated, the map is infinite. Neither side gains ANY advantage
by being North or South.
The South gets to play the game their way, the North gets to
play the game their way. If you want to be in the North and play
it a little bit different next wipe - Join Woodbury. Not
interested?.....the land stretches wide for you to claim as your
own and PVE-Away.
