We have been letting more people live than usual, but this could
change at any moment!

A while back we had someone streak through our garden, so I
called out the boggie to our crew on Skype. As I approached the
indecent invader with my shotgun in hand it suddenly became
clear that the fellow had just recovered from his slumber (new
player). Therefore I refrained from blasting him. However,
Wisengrim determined that his mohawk hairstyle required a
response, and therefore the streaker was dispatched. I tend to
be a bit more diplomatic than our designated Officer of Mayhem,
as many on the server can attest. :0)
Even the militant Zorg understand that there are times for war,
and times when a person just wants to go out and dull their mind
by collecting flowers in peace and harmony... in front of
someone else's base, with a stack of TNT in hand... - "Don't
mind me, just picking flowers over here."

Cookie you need to understand in promoting server interaction
people need to be shot at all times. (Now that is a dig ;) )

Our Officer of Mayhem would agree with you Aknot. ;)
As for myself, though I may be considered weak among my Zorg
peers for this, I've had people in the scope and simply said
"Bang"and left it at that. This is particularly true if the
person appears to be doing something (cutting down trees,
chopping on boulders, etc.) Granted, I might not have actually
killed the scrounger with the first shot, but I still get joy
a-plenty from the process of hunting someone and not having them
aware. I get my "kill", and they keep cutting trees for their
lumber supply.

I tell the guys shoot on sight. Unless I know who it is and
decide otherwise. Few days ago I followed gunfire and mining
helmet lights to the prefabs south of The Zorg.
I dropped one who was in the street and could have been stalking
the other(chat said rhafl) then dropped the other (who was in
between houses looting) as he ran to a different house (chat
said Iitay). BP and I then scouted around Viddion/Babybarez 's
base and came back to circle the prefab towns again. I'd wager a
good 15 minutes had gone by. We perch on a hill and I zoom in on
iitay's backpack (I want to make sure he gets it because I have
placed bacon eggs, tea, antibiotics, first aid kits, and coffee
in it). I wagered he was relatively new and inexperienced from
hitting TAB and not seeing him on alot.
While zoomed in we see someone run up and loot it. He is bending
over looting it and we both have him in our sights. BP asks to
take the shot I tell him to hold because I think it is iitay. He
had hodge-podge armor on so I figured twas him. We hear gunfire
to our east som we turn and look, BP calls a target and I drop
him. Turns out it was rhafl. I ask, and find out iitay is his
nephew so I ask if he got the stuff. He says thanks, and we
leave the area. We will probably give it a few more days before
hunting around again.
I call hold fire on many more targets than we kill. But we do
have standing orders to shoot first. And I think the server does
need PVP to be healthy. We just need to get rid of the negative
connotation associated with PVP. I'm weary of "Are you
friendly?" "Are you new?" "Do you have molds?" "Do you realize
you're by our base?"
Players who are not PVP oriented can still help themselves by
placing sleeping bags as they forage. I often place one inside a
city as I loot, or every biome as I run long distances. This
eases the pain of dying. Never carry everything you own on your
toolbar. If you have 400 goldenrod tea, put 5 there. If you only
have 30 coffee, place 5 there. Etc. And remember it is a
survival game. If you are brand new or poorly equipped going
into a city ups the risk of dying. Add in PVP and it goes up
from there.
For me PVE gets stale, and it is stressful having to worry about
shooting someone and having people overreact. The true nature of
friendly pvp comes after the kill. Recognition, and if they are
new you can leave supplies in their backpack. We also have been
consistently gearing up new joins who inevitably come looking to
kill us. Because we want healthy pvp, not slaughter everyone we
can and claim dominance.
I'm going to start recording every time I think we have PVP.

I haven't had any major complaints lately so no need for that.
Everything is good now so let's just leave it that please. :)

All this talk of Factioning and PvPing and I'm still watching
the clock, praying a horde misses me.

Hmm lol I didn't realize I had a stalker. A little creepy but I
am also slightly flattered.
