You went to a city with nothing. Once you learn the game better
you wouldn't do that. If you had just made a simple crossbow and
some wood frames you could have scaled to the top of any of the
buildings and used the crossbow that shoots like a railgun to
kill those players. Those other players shooting each other in a
city was also from inexperience as neither needed anything the
       other had.
       >
       > Also I know it's easy to let the imagination go wild with
speculation but none of those imagined scenarios would happen.
There are no secrets in a game where anyone can clip through the
world to see underground bases and passages. Fortresses are fun
to build but offer nothing worth fighting over. Any "excitement"
that might be had as PvP surely is quick to fade when you come
to the realization that weapons are infinite, ammo is infinite,
resources for building are infinite, food and drink are
infinite, and the world itself is infinite. If all I wanted to
do was fight other players in this game it would be incredible
shallow. No reason to build since I'd be ignoring zombie. No
reason to fight since the only things I need is a crossbow and
crossbow bolts and food I can get from killing animals and
cooking them quickly on an easily made campfire in the open.
       >
       > In truth there is zero reason to fight other players in this
game as it is currently designed but that makes sense as coop is
the design goal. If you run across another player and kill them,
you are doing it for no reason other than grief or self-defense
from a griefer. You don't need anything the other players have
and they don't need anything you have. It's a crafting game and
working with others to craft bigger things is interesting but
otherwise injecting PvP into that dynamic makes no sense. It's
also a bit asymmetric when you think about as someone can spend
5 hours building something that you can spend 15 minutes
destroying. Does that sound interesting? Maybe to the sadist,
but not to the person who was just playing the game as intended
(tower defense vs a zombie threat).
       >
       > I do think there is a compelling case that the tech in this
game can make an interesting PvP game and the devs have
described some of their ideas for PvP. But there needs to be a
different game mode to make it competitive and to give an actual
reason to want to engage other players. They have not given much
details on how they plan to implement PvP other than you'll be
able to play as a human, bandit, or zombie.
       >
       > Rust on the other hand is being crafted for PvP and if you
were mostly interested in a fun PvP game Rust will likely have a
more complete experience than 7DTD. The Rust experimental branch
is trying to do more with crafting and such. But that game, like
7DTD is a long long ways from finished. But again Rust is a PvP
game and 7DTD is a coop game currently. Trying to coop in Rust
is a huge disappointment. Trying to PvP in 7DTD is also a
       disappointment.

Yes Aknot we are all highly aware that you are on a clearly
started PVP server and do not like PVP and are doing everything
in your power to make the server change to suit your PVE play
       style.

Again Spider you only think you know what you are talking about.
I was all for KoS..... Read some of my previous posts. Its ok.
Ive got your player style pegged as does HR.

Only later did I and Spider hook up, and only later did Soup,
and 2 absurd catch up with us. Up until our attempted foray in
the city, Spider and I both had zero deaths. Took some
scrambling to come up with effective strategies to deal with the
       zombie populace.

See (contrary to belief) I dont mind PvP nor do I mind a
challenge. What I am concerned about is the player base of this
server and dying every 15 minutes till I get it right. I enjoy
(yes even you Spider) so far everyone on it REGARDLESS of their
opinions. I was helping Spider pinpoint weaknesses in his forts.
       I trade with various people....
I get it some people want to play one way and others want to
play another. However when you start making sweeping changes at
the server level that is being suggested it effects everyone not
       just those that want them.
To me the challenge you guys want is still challenging if you
impose it on yourself. What is more challenging then me having
more resources then Spider and I decide to go after him? Or he
feels froggy and comes after me?
This is the thing I cant understand. YOU have the option of
looting once and stopping. It boggles my mind why you would loot
it again if you are against that. You have the option of coming
against me with a club when I have a pistol. You have the
challenge now to only hit an ammo crate once and move on trying
to create the full weapon while if I want to I can hit it
       multiple times....
I just dont get it. You play your way and I play my way..... and
we are both happy.... yet funnily enough you want to force me to
play the game your way but when you have the chance (loot it
once) you dont play it your way and want change. I mean am I
right? Or is there some strange force making people loot ammo
       crates more then once?
Maybe if I understood this I would understand you point/stance a
       little better.

Ok. I think everyone here has made it abundantly clear as to
their positions on loot respawn. As we are all adults here, I do
not wish to intervene as a mediator in arguments. That said, I
am not happy with the overall demeanor/attitude this discussion
is taking. Let us all please remember this is a game and we are
all here to escape the burdens of RL and have some fun time with
other adults that are here for the same reason.
Please refrain from any further insults or negative behavior
       towards other players.
I don't want to have to start deleting posts and locking
threads. I chose to only allow adults here for this reason. I
don't have the time or the energy to do that.
As for the subject of this discussion I will make my intentions
clear. Until there is a higher speed approach to travel such as
horses, cars or something similar, it simply is unfair to new
and more occasional players (as myself lately I might add) to
have loot respawn shut off. It is unreasonable to expect that a
new or casual player may have to travel for hours in RL to find
loot. Hell, loot respawns like crazy in RUST. Way more than it
does here in our server. We will not be able to keep a populated
server if we remove loot respawn now. I will see how long it
actually takes loot to respawn in RL with the current settings
(30 days) and increase the time it takes to respawn again if it
is still too often. In the future if they make it so I can have
loot respawn activated ONLY in the spawn city, at that time I
will without question disable loot respawn everywhere else.
If they don't then I will work on a way to disable loot respawn
and set up a system where I can "respawn" the loot myself in
only the city hub at a community agreed upon frequency. I very
well may do this anyway after the next update/wipe as I feel
that it would be the best approach to this problem and may in
fact encourage more players to build closer to a core area.

Also I would like to add that madmole has expressed many times
before that the respawn of loot as it is set up now is only a
temporary feature and was never meant to be a normal part of
survival in this game. Regardless of what the Fun Pimps do to
this game I do believe I will always make it so the central hub
is an area that occasionally respawns loot.

Wait there is not a badge for getting topics locked...? ;)
I cant remember if you addressed this MM or not is there any
thought (although gong against RGM) of locking the size of the
map to kind of force people to cross paths and or have a
possible need to rely on each other and or those they choose to
       rely on?

There was some discussion of that being an option but based on
my experience (minecraft), limiting RGM size usually kills a
server. You would be surprised how quickly everything is
explored and looted regardless of size.
