New Information about PvP/PvE Border Interaction
By: Madman Date: August 12, 2018, 8:45 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
***As a result of how the botman server manager works, you can
be legally killed by a PvP player if you get too close to a PvP
area. The botman allows killing between the PvP and PvE areas,
so long as one party is in the PvP zone To avoid this risk, stay
far enough away that you are out of weapon range. If you don't
want to engage in PvP, make certain you don't get to close to a
PvP area. If you happen to find yourself too close and are fired
upon, you may fire back in self defense, so long as the other
party is actually in a PvP zone. If both players are in a PvE
zone, any player that kills another will be sent to prison by
the botman.***
The new botman server manager is now the foundation of the
server. I have to work within the limitations of this program
as I cannot babysit the server. I set up areas that are PvE and
PvP and then the botman oversees activity based on that
information. The botman dev has decided to apply certain
parameters based on a more real world scenario in that if you
come close to an area that allows killing, a player should not
expect an invisible line to prevent crossfire.
Therefore, I have to adjust the rules accordingly. It is only a
legal kill if one party is still within the PvP zone. But this
works both ways. You can stand at the edge of a PvE zone and
kill a player in the PvP zone and this will now be legal as
well. The good thing is that with adjusted rules, the botman is
always right. And therefore, if a player makes an illegal
action, it knows for a fact that it has happened. No grey area.
And the offender will immediately be placed in prison to await
final judgement.

What you should take away from this is you can fire back in
self-defense.
You can be on the PvE side and snipe PvP players at your
leisure.
PvP players can snipe PvE players who want to get close to the
border.
It works both ways; you can fire from either side so no one is
helplessly bound by rules. Fire away!

I havent played a seed in a while. I like what Im hearing about
botman. One question though, does botman takes into
consideration if itīs a friendly kill to whether or not sends
you to jail? Or can an exception be make? I'm thinking for
instance when you are playing with someone and toying with
tnt...
May be friendly kills are too rare and doesnt merit the time in
making the exception to take it into acount, but i was just
wondering...

The bot will send the killer to prison. However, it will also
give the "victim" the option to forgive and release the player
from prison.

But I'm not even sure if that would happen because I don't think
kills by explosives are credited to the player by the bot. I
know the game doesn't.

3 hours on first offense. Unless the victim chooses to release
them. Continual offenses could result in permanent ban.
