Here comes the Scrap Iron Mountain... maybe we could build it
over the starting city, entirely covering & encompassing the
city in darkness, the Zeds would love it!

It's up to each individual people if they want to dupe their
game into boredom or not. If you had a game crash and lost some
stuff, maybe you could use it to neutralize the pain.
Otherwise, it's really only hurting the person doing the
duping.
Hopefully they will get this fixed so it doesn't linger as a
temptation. People will do it with the best intentions and then
be like, "well, never need iron or brass again... now what
should I do..." Kinda takes away the whole point of the game -
scrounging and survival. It would be like playing Yahtzee with
sets of dice that have the same number on every face, or using a
Rubik Cube that is composed of only one color.
And don't come to Grimtown wanting to trade your marked brass.
We only want the real deal :0)

Hopefully they fix this and the conversation is null.
I just checked a few other servers and if crafting is set to
slow (which sucks because it is so slow!) you cannot dupe brass
and metal scrap in this manner.
I think that if there is a way to keep people from having to
make the personal decision of whether to cheat or not, it should
be used.
If I’m going to spend 50 or 60 hours mining iron and my neighbor
spends 20 minutes to make the same amount by using a well-known
preventable dupe… It’s disheartening to me and throws *asterisks
on everyone’s build(s) including mine. I agree Cookie, cheating
is a fast track to boredom for the one cheating. But
ultimately, my main concern is how this game makes me feel. I
put in the time and effort but the cheater has more. That
pisses me off.
Might as well open the give command to everyone if we are
playing off an honor system.

I found you could 'dupe' brass like this, but not scrap iron. I
might just be inept. I do get double the ore/stone when using an
auger, or double the wood when using a chainsaw due to latency I
suppose. I get the ore/wood and then the tree/rock/object
flashes again and I finish it off a second time. So with
augers/chainsaws I got double the output consistently. So did
others I asked, as well.

If metal trussing could be ramps and corners, I would have made
a thunderdome already:)

O.O
Then it is no longer a personal decision..... So in order to
stop something that may or may not be happening you want us all
to suffer with slow crafting?
I have chose not to use safe or chest farms. Im glad to see
others attempting to follow that. However if they do not it is
no skin off my nose. So they can make a ton of casings. (what
else is brass used for?)
I don't see the need to put the hammer down until it appears it
becomes a problem.

Yeah brass doesn't have much use other than casings, and it was
too easy to acquire.
