So guess what. Remember all the angst about a new seed when we w
ent to latest experimental?
Alpha 16.2 b7 experimental and Alpha 16.2
stable are the same. The only reason it went experimental first
was because of the optimizations and RAM usage reductions. That
was a risky change that might have caused enough problems to
warrant a restart so they wanted to see how it would do before
moving it the stable branch.
Alpha 16.2 should be compatible with 16.1 and 16.0 saves. As
always, for the most stable experience it is best to restart but
it is only recommended and not required.
All of the bug fixes and issues prioritized for Alpha 16 should
be completed in the 16.3 update that is being prepared and then
the team will move forward to A17 development.
Remember that SOME issues are WIP issues that won't be fully
resolved until A17 or later and if you cannot live with the
state of the game as it is you can revert to 15.2 and skip Alpha
16 or you can try modding the xmls to create workarounds that
work best for your own preferences.
The experimental we switched to which caused some players to
leave and created quite the ruckus was actually the stable
version; they just didn't want to call it the stable version in
case it actually wasn't.
So...just to recap.
