Crash at start of game
By: perjurius Date: June 22, 2017, 1:25 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
I tried posting this in official website and forums, but no
propper answer yet.
Everytime i log in to the server the game crashes either at the
"Creating Player" or "Starting World" screen, i leave it for
about 5 mins, but it wont go on. I have a popup message in the
back that i cant open but for what i read in the backimage it
says that an error log has been added to the fodler of game.
I tried putting res at minimum (i could play on ultra res
without issues in the past).
I have a HP Pavillion with 16g RAM, and an integrated AMD R6
videocard. Internet connection is 20mb so all should be working
fine but it is still crashing everytime. Tried reinstalling the
game 3 times already, but still same issue.. Anyone has had same
problem?
Greets and ty for help.

Has this game ever worked on your computer before? If so, I
would suggest a complete uninstall, check to see that your video
drivers are updated, restart the computer and try a new
installation.

Yes it used to work just fine, I tried uninstalling it already
for the third time, deleted reg entry for The Fun Pimps and
installed again, restarted in between each step, fully
uninstalled Steam, retried... nothing seems to work... Ill try
with the vid card and come back with more info if it isnt
working with that...

It's been down all day. I'm not sure what else to try. Maybe
someone else here will have an idea.

Are you playing the "experimental" version? The default from
Steam is the latest stable version, which is the latest version
of Alpha15. GroundZero is running the latest experimental patch
for Alpha16. You have to opt in to that experimental version or
you cannot possibly connect to the server.
Can you start a single player game fine? (note: this should
always be part of your debugging strategy when you have trouble
with a server, along with rebooting your machine and other
standard tech debugging steps)

I didn't even think about him possibly playing the wrong
version. Good catch. Maybe that's the issue.

So here is the current status of this:
First, yes, i was playing on the BETA version, the latest
experimental version (first thing i did when i reinstalled the
game).
So i could connect for a while, then i had to disconnect for
work (damn Chinese with their timezone and specifications for a
project).
SO.. THE answer, or THE solution for me was (and hope it still
is when im going back online):
Start game with game launcher, and disable GNU renderer (I guess
it has something to do with my graphic card). I will come back
later to post definitive answer and close post if this works,
and if someone else is having this issue you can try the same
and let us know if it works{
In the meantime, thx all for your help and assistance.

Sorry, it was the GLCore Renderer AND UNET networking parameters
disabled on the launcher. That fixed it.

Does sound like some gfx-specific issues for you...I'm still
having trouble accessing the normal 7daystodie forums but once
they come back up I'd definitely report that. Include a full
report of your hardware including driver version etc etc as well
as your steps to fix in case it helps some other folks. Sounds
like sort of a nasty, hard to find issue, unless you are using
some really strange hardware/drivers.
