       Greetings All!
So I was just wondering how much PVP actually goes on here on
GroundZero? I have been running around down south for a good bit
now and rarely do I ever see anyone down there. I have found a
ton of bases but never anyone out and about?

Largely depends on the time of day. What are your playing
       hours?

With the new expansive map, random PVP is much more rare. On
the small Nav map you had no choice but to bump into people.
There was only one real town so it was bound to happen
eventually. Also, the majority of people in the south are
making mole holes, some with modest ground level constructs.
Incidentally, the reason you don't see people just hanging out
on the surface is because you are out looking to shoot them.
I've been running around in the south since server inception and
have only had a few random encounters, and most of those were
centered around 0,0 town which has come to be the odds-on best
chance at a battleground. For myself it's not as much about
shooting someone as it is utilizing proper combat tactics/being
prepared for an ambush, etc. Just the threat of being shot has
it's own potential energy, which adds another level to the game
for me. Seriously, just running around is not going to produce
much PVP. You need to invite/challenge someone if you want to
       have a party.
Given that this is the new PVP constant for the open expanses of
the random map, and taking into account the tendency for people
to avoid the surface (which makes looting in the south quite
lucrative), the Cookie Munchers have built a combat arena where
we just shoot each other when we lack other prey.

Additionally, the longer the seed goes, the quicker people play
less and/or wait for the new seed.

I came across your area the other day CMonster. I do have to say
well done! Yes that has been my fear that more people are
fearful of being up top or they are just staying to the north.
Maybe a couple raids here or their will get some blood boiling
       ;D

I'm usually in the South in the past. But I went North this time
to learn the new A15 changes/gameplay. I think some others may
have went North as well since the game changed so much.
Hopefully A16 will have more in the South.
.....Maybe I will move south before then

Maybe we should think about having the Airdrop marker turned on
to "help" people run into each other. I hear the plane but I
rarely see the smoke so I don't even know which way to go to
look for the drop. With the markers on they would at least get
picked up and might cause a little more interaction in the wild.
       Something to think about.

Thanks Graffix. We've put a good leg forward to have a rather
sizable compound - above ground. Quite visible actually.
Also, the south has traditionally been low population, mostly
for fears of getting raided. Personally that is part of the
thrill for me, and I enjoy designing the base as a means of
potentially limiting the damage (or setting traps so people get
impalled) when they try an entry. Makes it more fun for the
raiders actually. Wish more people would do that so my raids
       would be more interesting.
In all reality the zombies are easy peasy. All you need is a
box with forty layers of spikes around it, which is what most
people are doing. That's why I never build spikes, and limit my
use reinforced concrete. The Parthenon and Assembly building
are built mostly from adobe block. Cookie castle on the old
seed was all basic brick, and we had some serious hairy moments
when the hordes would come around. Makes for much more of a
challenge. Adding in player combatants makes it even more of a
challenge since Zs don't usually use the weapons they are
carrying. Not everyone is going to want that though.
However, a fair number of people have actually shifted to
playing in the south on this seed, and in all reality more
raiding has occurred in the North than it has in the South.
Indeed, many of the Cookie Munchers are just now experiencing
the south for the first time with this build. Takes a bit to
shift gears and let deaths be a part of the game, but once a
person reaches that level it opens up a whole new realm of late
game possibilities. Honestly if you're just fighting survival
and Zs, this is a really short-lived game, and it's one of the
reasons I think a lot of people log out after their base is
       established.

YUp; design a base that is a maze...like something out of
Indiana Jones or whatever. make it a difficult raid mentally.

       Question:
I totally get the added challenge of making bases out of mid
level materials, when it comes to zombies.
But in PvP, the attack is obviously much more directed at
       important (perceived important) areas.
Do you still use the same materials for PvP bases?
If I did that I might almost feel better taking the fight
       outside my base.
