Someone built ladders on top of my LCB protected area...
By: TaylorMaid Date: October 15, 2016, 8:46 pm

I'm not sure if this is a glitch or an exploit but someone built
a ladder up my (what was supposed to be) protected area and
looted my stuff. HOW? I have no friends or anything like that,
they just built on top of my property EASILY bypassing my hard
work (it took a long time to fortify my base with concrete and
reinforced metal) and they just laddered up. This shouldn't
be...

LCB protection expires after a certain amount of time if you
haven't been on the server. Maybe you were away longer than the
expiration timer? You can tell by trying to grab it using the
/grablcb command. If you are standing right next to your LCB
but the command tells you that there isn't one around then you
know it expired.

Negative. I'm on every day. At least I was... this kind of upset
me a loot so I'm not sure if I'll be back on much anymore. The
LCB is still active.

Don't feel bad, your not the only one...the LCB owner of our
base was only offline for a few hours and in an area that we
just checked the lcb on last night, someone broke out some doors
and put new ones on. I'm waiting to see what the answer to this
is too.

Copy that Taylor. We recently had an issue with Nathan
Montgomery splicing through walls, bypassing hatches, breaking
down doors and putting in his own (over land claims), as
witnessed by Cookie Muncher crew.
I would say we have an issue here, centered around an
individual.

Well, well. I was wondering how long it would take for nathan
to get back to his old tricks.
I've run into him on several other servers that I think have
banned him now. Imagine my surprise to see him show up on
Ground Zero.
This is his usual M.O. Check your gun safes too. Chances are
he's stolen items while he was messing with your base. I
haven't seen him go on his usual four-letter-words name-calling
rants yet though. But you can be sure that's coming too.
His usual go-to excuse is to claim his brother/cousin/friend
logged into his account and did all these nasty things and it
wasn't him. But after he pulls the same stunt for the umpteenth
time, admins usually ban him from their servers.

Really? Hrmph he has been good on this server these past months
until these recent reports. Will investigate so far I have
received reports that nathan isn't necessarily all to blame here
for the consternation

Hang in there Taylormaid, I know it can be frustrating when this
happens.
Try to remember most of us on the server are good fellows.
Even this sneaky ones in the south.
I am not the most developed on this update yet, I crank out
yellow stuff now.
I can spare some bullets, some ok quality guns, and some other
stuff, if you need some help getting back to where you were.

Well since it was made public here and I know I have been
accused of cheating multiple times...
Fog war is a contributor.
I do not see evidence of nathan "cheating".
Reports of large holes in the ground were caused by zombies.
Doors being open or not open that can 1) be a bug that has been
around since as early as I remember; the last time I remember it
happening (when I first shared bases) was A9. I would log on and
all the doors would be open despite feragh or iamthorburn saying
they closed them all.
In this case there were inexperienced PvP ers who made mistakes,
fog of war was in effect, chaos ensued when PvP started and then
players exacerbated the problem by taking things out of game.
1) An old "trick" used in PvP (I first saw it in Rust) is to lay
a sleeping bag down near where you are PvP-ing. This way, when
you die, you get right back into battle.
2) If you come out of your base or a section of it to PvP
someone don't forget to close it. In this case either the player
exiting forgot or died before they could. Maybe they think they
did and swore they did but...
3) As long as you continue to engage someone they may defend
themselves.
4) the ladder was there already as part of the base. Parts of it
were shot out during the battle so players exiting the base via
said ladder would fall and take damage making them easy kills.
5) someone used a rocket launcher inside their own base.
6) the corpse on the ground thing with that person somewhere
else is a bug; it has happened with others on the server. One
player kills another and the other one says they're actually in
a different location. Only relogging or a server restart fixes
this.
What I believe happened is reports of multiple raids got somehow
morphed into one.
During a raid a horde did come to which the raiders killed the
horde. Self-defense fell in line with base defense; in these
situations it is incumbent upon raiders to not allow /use
zombies to do more damage than necessary. However; I won't ask
them to throw themselves into the horde. Log or leave or
kill...using the cover of darkness and the fact people log at
night is a viable tactic as far as choosing when to move/raid.
I believe the chaos of PvP got blood pumping and confusion set
in. Doors were left open (which happens; I've seen it myself,
Rust was the worst). Ladders were not built by an enemy.
The fact he was a corpse in one spot and soon after was in the
base killing doesn't mean he was a cheater. It means someone
used a rocket launcher to kill him and either that was part of
the bug we mentioned earlier or he died and respawned close
by...remember said sleeping bag?
Killing someone multiple times is fine if they're up for it and
they show this by continued engagement; where this does not
apply is if you are in someone's base and they keep re-spawning
there and you camp it. In this case leave
You got your kills; adrenaline ran, blood ran, fun was had.
After the fact some players comported themselves less than
favorably; in fact, one of the raidees came into teamspeak and
was heard by several community members on a foul mouthed tirade.
I've had it happen to me; I was accused of cheating because
someone couldn't understand how I got the kill and they came
into TS and went off on a curse-laden rant. I didn't respond
gently.
I find no evidence of cheating or griefing here unless someone
has new evidence for me. nathan has a bad rep with some it seems
but he has never cheated or griefed here and anytime he comes
close to causing issues I ask him to modify his style and he
always has. He has been in compliance and always ask questions
before engaging in something he feels needs clarification.
The point here is to let things cool down. Think...try and
figure it out. Be calm when battle occurs. It takes a while for
the adrenaline to stop pumping and you hear your heart beating
in your ears and if you don't continue to PvP you may never get
used to it.
Never send a tweet or email in anger, same with jumping into TS
or go to the forums. Think, ask someone, think, sleep on it,
take a look around once things have cooled off and try and
figure it out. If you see holes in your plan of defense or
actual defenses, adjust. I used to tell people who built in a GZ
to lace the area with booby traps so enemies couldn't use ruined
buildings and sniper points. Lay some barbed wire, plant a mine.
The same applies with bases not in a city.
Clear out sectors of fire; have intersecting fields of fire. Set
up avenues of approach; have false paths and entrances; dead
ends; secret entrances which lead to death.
But in this case all that happened based on my experience and
the information that I gathered (by talking to people and
reading reports from people) is that PVP happened and some
weren't prepared and/or experienced when it happened. And if
you, in your frustration, tell someone theyre a bleeping
bleeepity bleep cleep cheater and they tell you to bleep off;
well then... you deserved the reply.
As always, what makes this a mature and friendly PvP server is
how we handle ourselves when situations like this arise. Mature
players stop and think and react calmly. If you think someone is
camping you log and pop into TS and let them know (if theyre
there) that youre stuck on a spawn point. Ask someone in TS to
relay the message in-game.
PM them, PM me or poke me if I'm around. Worse case scenario is
I help reimburse you and you learn. Everything lost is merely
replaceable items; and whether or not it was "legit" you learn
from it. I always prided myself on building vases so if someone
did cheat I could defend it anyway.
One such trick is the "look through the ground exploit." If your
land claim has nothing but terrain blocks around it someone can
see it using this exploit. If you have block blocks around it
then they cannot; however, they can see a small group of blocks
and discern where the land claim is.
make multiple groups of said small block groups or make land
claims part of ceilings and walls. Have red herrings.
Again...it is how we handle situations and conduct ourselves
that is the main thing. Every item can be replaced. Zcoins can
be replaced. Wellness regotten. But the experience can be ruined
by your reaction. Trust in me to set it right perhaps not that
instant...but it will.
I want everyone to enjoy the server and that includes people
from being branded a cheater as the villagers get their
pitchfork and smear someone's good reputation.
hang out in TS with some of us and get to know each other.

And in light of recent events; his long time consistent
standings as a pillar of our community who emulates the
standards and type of player we want here; Cmonster shall be
awarded a custom item unique to him (within reason of course.)
It will be soul bound to him meaning if I see it on another I
will remove it and return it to him.
